Publisher's summary

Edith Hahn was an outspoken young woman in Vienna when the Gestapo forced her into a ghetto and then into a slave labor camp. When she returned home months later, she knew she would become a hunted woman, so she went underground.

She emerged in Munich as "Grete Denner". There she met Werner Vetter, a Nazi Party member who fell in love with her. Despite Edith's protests and even her eventual confession that she was Jewish, he married her and kept her identity secret.

Sensational narrator!

One of the best narrations I’ve experienced on Audible. It was like being in the theatre!

Hard to stop listening.

A side of the Holocaust that we rarely know or hear about. Jewish people who bravely hid in plain sight with Nazis all around. Many people today question how Hitler could of killed 6 million Jewish people on a large scale with "no one knowing". Edith explains it. My heart breaks for her strugglings and the struggles of millions of people. May they rest peacefully and may the world learn and remember, so another Holocaust never happens again.

Barbara Rosenblat made this book even better!

Absolutely love listening to this story. The narrator chosen to perform this made you feel like you were listening to Edith herself. Thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish.

Engaging story

I absolutely was enthralled by the vivid story and the narration was emotionally compelling! I read the book years ago-but hearing it narrated made the story captivating. I couldn't help listening nonstop!

Internal Immigration

Either by blood or by choice, we make choices that we should not beat ourselves up about. It is about surviving as if our GHOSTS will show themselves. Lessons in living as the background, not being the center, lessons about being human.

Extraordinarily Brave Woman; Excellent Narrator

Such a brave and courageous woman, her story is amazing! The narrator is excellent. It was like sitting in the same room with her and she was speaking only to me.
