Publisher's summary

Edith Hahn was an outspoken young woman in Vienna when the Gestapo forced her into a ghetto and then into a slave labor camp. When she returned home months later, she knew she would become a hunted woman, so she went underground.

She emerged in Munich as "Grete Denner". There she met Werner Vetter, a Nazi Party member who fell in love with her. Despite Edith's protests and even her eventual confession that she was Jewish, he married her and kept her identity secret.

An amazing story that should never be forgotten

A must read! An amazing story that needs to be remembered. I read it maybe 7 years ago and then listened to it again in 2 days. I couldn’t put it down. The voice is easy to listen to and brings the story to life.

Powerful story of a determined spirit

A young woman who refused to be beaten by the Nazi regime and all that it stood for. An amazing story narrated in such a wonderful way that i found myself cheering for Edith and yet at the same time full of sorrow that anyone should have to go through what she and many other's had to just to survive.

Thought Provoking

The story of Edith Hahn Beer is just one of thousands of stories of survival that came out of the holocaust. Each story is one of courage, intelligence and luck. Edith's story is no exception. She did everything she had to do to survive and we are all lucky enough to be able to learn and be inspired by the incredible actions of this woman. The narration was exceptional, Barbara Rosenblat really made Edith come to life. As you listen, you feel her fear and her pain. An excellent listen.

What a pleasant surprise

The Nazi Officer's Wife was a complete surprise was not sure what to expect as I am not fond of war stories. This book is the true story of an Austrian Jewish girl's life from the 1930's until after the war. I thought it was an amazing story and was fascinating to read. I found I went from being just interested to not being able to put the book down. Well worth a credit
