Publisher's summary

Owen is the organizer of the Montgomery clan, running the family’s construction business with an iron fist - and an even less flexible spreadsheet. And though his brothers give him grief for his compulsive list making, the Inn BoonsBoro is about to open right on schedule. The only thing Owen didn’t plan for was Avery MacTavish....

Avery’s popular pizza place is right across the street from the inn, giving her a first-hand look at its amazing renovation - and a newfound appreciation for Owen. Since he was her first boyfriend when they were kids, Owen has never been far from Avery’s thoughts. But the attraction she’s feeling for him now is far from innocent.

As Avery and Owen cautiously take their relationship to another level, the opening of the inn gives the whole town of BoonsBoro a reason to celebrate. But Owen’s hard work has only begun. Getting Avery to let down her guard is going to take longer than he expected - and so will getting her to realize that her first boyfriend is going to be her last….

“No one writes relationships as well as Ms. Roberts, with the subtleties and quirkiness of the give-and-take of friendship and romance.” ( Fresh Fiction)

Another winner by Nora Roberts

As always, Nora Roberts brings her characters to life. The people in this story are real and imperfect, just like me. I thoroughly enjoy her work.

Need new narrator

It is very difficult to differentiate between the characters as the narrator is terrible. If it wasn't for the author inserting "Avery said" or "Hope said" once in awhile, I might have returned the book.
Story was good, tho somewhat expected.

Nora Roberts came back

What made the experience of listening to The Last Boyfriend the most enjoyable?

Finally, a good love story without murder or something terrible happening. I love the feeling of this book and cannot wait for number 3.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Last Boyfriend?

I love the family of people in this trilogy.

Which scene was your favorite?

I love when he realizes that he loves her.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and a book that you like to listen to more than twenty times.

Any additional comments?

I had almost given up on Nora Robert's books because of the murder series. I want a feel good love story that gives you a happy listen.

romance as it should be

Where does The Last Boyfriend rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Right up there. I didn't want it to end and was very disappointed to learn that the third book hasn't been released yet... I wanted to go straight into it. This is a lovely romantic story.
It is slightly predictable in that it is pretty clear from the start (even from the first book) who will end up with whom, but that anticipation of the inevitable is part of the romance for me.

Any additional comments?

It was a nice surprise that the second book in the trilogy is from the point of view of a different character than the first.

Great story

Enjoyed the way the story teller made the characters come to life. The image of the inn come alive. A place I would love to spend time at. Really enjoyed spending a few evening at the Inn.

Great beginning to the trilogy

I had only read one Nora Roberts book before this one. Loved it, so felt encouraged to begin another. After listening to about half of this story, I decided that I would definitely want to hear the other two that followed, so ordered them both. I listened to all three in succession even though each on could stand on its own. However, I enjoyed prolonging the pleasure of following the characters throughout the series. Now, despite recognizing a degree of formulaic style to Nora Roberts' novels, she has such a great imagination and ability to find new plot lines, believable characters and challenges for them, I don't mind her formula for entertaining her fans. I plan to read many more of her books.

better than first one

This one is better than the first in the series for two reasons: very few kids voices for the narrator to screech (although there are a few), and fewer details about the inn because they were all in the first one. I still kept my player on 1 1/2 time though, as otherwise it drags. The story line from Avery's past adds more depth to this story I think. And the ghost continues to make it fun. Will be getting the last one in this series.
