Publisher's Summary

Sam and Remi Fargo return for the thrilling third adventure in the acclaimed new series. In Spartan Gold and Lost Empire, Clive Cussler brought readers into the world of husband-and-wife team Sam and Remi Fargo, whose passion and instinct for treasure-hunting has led to extraordinary discoveries - and perilous journeys. Their next adventure, however, might be their most astonishing yet.

The Fargos are used to hunting for treasure, not people. But then a Texas oil baron contacts them with a personal plea: an investigator friend of the Fargos' was on a mission to find the oil baron's missing father - and now the investigator is missing, too. Would Sam and Remi be willing to look for them both? Though something about the situation doesn't quite add up, the Fargos agree to go on the search. What they find will be beyond anything they could have imagined.

On a journey that will take them to Tibet, Nepal, Bulgaria, India, and China, the Fargos will find themselves embroiled with black-market fossils, a centuries-old puzzle chest, the ancient Tibetan kingdom of Mustang, a balloon aircraft from a century before its time... and a skeleton that could turn the history of human evolution on its head.

Packed with the endless imagination and breathtaking suspense that are his hallmarks, The Kingdom once again proves that Clive Cussler is "just about the best storyteller in the business" (New York Post).

Listen to another far-flung Fargo Adventure.

    "OK, not great"

When I buy a book with Clive Cussler’s name on it, I want it to read like he at least reviewed the book, and this one didn’t. You could tell it was written almost 100% by Grant Blackwood. Although it was an entertaining read, it wasn’t up to the normal Sam and Remi standards, and I normally really enjoy reading about their exploits.

    "Right in Cussler's 'Sweet Spot'"

Ok, I'm a fan of Clive Cussler series. That being said: there is a cheese-y factor to the dialogue between characters consistently. If you don't take the books too seriously, you can enjoy the ride and sometimes learn some interesting factoids...
This book falls into the typical Cussler recipe: fast-moving and fun with a bit of danger and mystery thrown in.
He does not write women very well - they are all caricatures, Barbie meets Lara Croft. But they have improved over the years and I do give him credit for trying to make them a little more human with humor.
But if you enjoy action/adventure without a lot of graphic gore or sex (one of the reasons I consistently reach for his books) you'll probably enjoy this and other Cussler reads.

"I loved this... I was introuduced to the Fargo's."
What did you love best about The Kingdom?

I liked the character development and the true to life history that the story revolved around..

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Kingdom?

In the Toyota escape in the gorge..

What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He read to me in Atlas Shrugged and I thought he was way to dramatic.. I really liked him in this..

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Who flew first?

    Any additional comments?

    Bring on the Fargo's...

    "The Fargo's Soar to Shangri-La"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely. The team of Cussler and Blackwood write an excellent story. The quality of these stories continue to improve and entertain. These books are feel good tales where the good guys win in the end. I am a sucker for these stories and enjoy them all.
    .
In this book the husband-wife team of treasure hunters are duped into hunting for an old friend. During that hunt they discover clues to an ancient treasure. The team hunts down all the clues; solves an ancient mystery; travel through Nepal, China, and eastern Europe, discover the whereabouts of their old friend; and reveal the origin of mankind.
    .
Just another routine "day" in the lives of the Fargo's.
    .
Just another excellent book to enjoy and remember. And come back to another day.
    .
Keep up the great work Scott Brick. You can make reading the phone book enjoyable.

    "The Fargo Adventures Rock!"

So I LVOE adventure books with witty strong characters and this series always delivers. The fargo adventures constantly have me glued to my MP3 player wondering how there going to get there asses out of another jam. I would recomend any of the Fargo storys but I would suggest starting with the first book, they can be stand alone books but are much better if read in order. If you like history mixed with adventure you will surly like this series. Cant wait for another one!

    "Another great Fargo adventure"

Cussler does it again. The Fargos are becoming favorites of mine as I hear of their exploits. The author is able to balance action/historical drama and embellishment with technical data to make the great majority of the story-telling fascinating. Some of the technical description along with spatial description was hard to follow at points. But this does not detract from the over all enjoyment of the genre. I will go back to them again.

    "A great book."
Where does The Kingdom rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book ranks right up at the top of Clive Clussler's books.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Awesome. Just enough detail to keep the story very alive and fast moving without getting to deep into one detail.
