Millenia Black’s debut novel reveals how relationships are affected when individuals use duplicity to cover up bad choices.

For six years, Reginald Brooks - slick Disney marketing VP - has pulled off the perfect scam. He has juggled two families without the other one finding out. He stays two weeks in Miami with his wife and two young adult daughters, and the next two weeks in Orlando with his trophy mistress and their young daughter.

But when the charade unravels, it’s clear there’s been a lot more pretending than anyone realized. Soon wide-ranging consequences begin to take their toll.

I enjoyed this book very much. The narrator, as usual, does a fine job! The story was very good and I enjoyed the surprise. I have no regrets about spending a chip on this. I think that if you enjoy something that might seem a little far fetched and can keep an open mind, you will like this. I say far fetched because I'm not one to handle duel relationships. It contains a sad part to it but overall the book was quite entertaining.

PRETTY GOOD READ - WORTH THE CHIP

I remember reading this book many many years ago and I wanted to read it again. I remember it being very good and because I forgot most of what happened. I highly recommend this book because the drama in this book will keep you wanting to read until you’re done.,

As I read the first part of the book, the premise, I felt that the author made the women too dumb. Now it is fiction so I will. To react as fiercely as I first did. Even though this took place some time I. The last (when beepers were prevalent) what woman isn’t suspicious Ed when their husband lover is gone for 2 weeks each month for years and years. Yes the man Reggie he was silly too for thinking he could balance two lives and by the way, his friend Franklin was never really his friend but he couldn’t detect this until too late. I hate to think that men could be so deceiving and women who didn’t have to work, so deluded, but for the sake of fiction we know this could happens A woman scorned,.well we saw several ways that can play out depending on the security of the woman, the maturity etc,
Nevertheless less, the novel moved along and tied up loose ends…every story does not have a happy ending and this one couldn’t, but the characters did mature to some extent.
The performance was okay but the pace of reading sporadic, I hate hearing the actor swallowing, taking deep breathes. That was distracting. I thought he was good at developing the different voices, but give a woman the job for female parts. So overall a fast paced book, with weak character development in part 1. But I suppose enjoyable. Have fun reading or listening.

The truth hurts but can be freeing
