"Albom has done it again...a powerful book, powerful enough to make one's inner snob feel a little uncomfortable." (Time)
"A book with genuine power to stir and comfort its readers." (The New York Times)
WHAT BETTER TIME TO HEAR "THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN" THAN ON THE WAY TO A FUNERAL, A HAPPY FUNERAL OF A 91 YEAR OLD, JOYCE FROM GRONG GRONG. ONE'S THOUGHTS TURNED TO WHO WERE JOYCE'S 5? AND THEN, WHO WILL BE MY 5? WE WERE JUST ABOUT RACING BACK TO THE CAR TO LISTEN TO THE NEXT INSTALMENT. ITS NOT THAT WE'RE MACABRE AND WANT TO PASS THROUGH LIFE QUICKLY - THIS BOOK ENCAPTURES WHERE WE WOULD LIKE TO GO, WHERE WE HAVE NOT THOUGHT OF GOING AND WHERE WE MAY NOT GO. A TREMENDOUS WAY TO ENCOURAGE THOUGHT PROVOKING. THANKS MITCH. ANOTHER STEP IN THE DIRECTION, AFTER MORRIE!
Yes - because Mitch reads it and knows what he is reading!
Eddie - because he is so human and so vulnerable!
Everything - He creates the characters therefore understands the characters.
I must have expected a far better story since I loved his other book 'Tuesdays with Morrie',
But I liked his narration, and the book was quite enjoyable, pleasant, and was not boring.
If you do not have high expectations as I did, I am sure you will love this book more than I did.
(Not that I didn't enjoy the five people)
I wouldn't mind listening to it again at a later time.
Absolutley stunning, I am not usually into this sort of thing but somebody recommended it and is fantastic. A wonderful story
"5 People you meet in Heaven"
I loved this book. It was a great insight into how heaven may seem when we die. 5 people Eddie meets in heaven is a journey through his life and how it effected him whilst still on Earth. It's a good book and highly enjoyable to listen to. I hope Heavens that interesting when I go.
Mitch Albom as so many beautiful stories, they seem like ordinary fiction with a sparkle of magic. The Five People You Meet In Heaven is definite book you MUST read before you die. You hear about Eddie and his life on Earth and his journeys in Heaven after that life is over. It makes you feel part of the world. Like every moment, action and person are all connected to each other.
Thought provoking and beautifully written - I just wanted to find out who was coming next and wasn't ready for the book to finish when it did. Well worth reading.
"Great Title but Disappointing Listen"
It was far too cheesy for my tastes.
The concept really drew me in, it is a great idea for a book but I found the content a bit sentimental and childish and it did not interest me, I jumped through a few pages.
He was a good narrator given the subject matter he did a fine job.
I think this book will be like Marmite. You will either love it or hate it.
