Publisher's summary

"The president of the United States...is missing."

With these words, New York Times journalist J. B. Collins, reporting from the scene of a devastating attack by ISIS terrorists in Amman, Jordan, puts the entire world on high alert. The leaders of Israel and Palestine are critically injured, Jordan's king is fighting for his life, and the U.S. president is missing and presumed captured.

As the U.S. government faces a constitutional crisis and Jordan battles for its very existence, Collins must do his best to keep the world informed while working to convince the FBI that his stories are not responsible for the terror attack on the Jordanian capital. And ISIS still has chemical weapons....

Struggling to clear his name, Collins and the Secret Service try frantically to locate and rescue the leader of the free world before ISIS's threats become a catastrophic reality.

Unexpectedly good.

I read this book on a recommendation of a friend. We both enjoy books of a similar genre and he thought I'd like this one. He was so right! This book grabs you from the first few pages and doesn't let up. It's well written and well performed. Definitely worth the time and money.

another excellent book

I have not listened to any of mr. rosenberg's books I did not like, but I believe this is the best. It so so true to life in todays news. It kept me going with so many twists and turns literally wondering if anyone would survive the horrific scenes most did not. however a very few did. it did have a good ending .... don't want to give away too many details, so you will have to listen to it yourself. I highly recommend this book in audible form to get all the nuances to the book.

Good but not Joel's best

A good story but not as riveting as preceeding book in the series. A lot of interesting descriptive details about locations in the Middle East.

Ug.

I loved Mr. Rosenberg’s Twelfth Imam and Marcus Ryker series’ but this J.B. Collins series is just a dud. I can’t tell if it’s the narrator who makes it seem so contrived or if it’s the books. And I just cannot understand why good books feel COMPELLED to throw in a love story along the way just because there’s a man and a woman. It’s as if men and women cannot work together even , or especially, in fast faced, high impact, life threatening situations without them making time, in all that, to size each other up. I read somewhere that men think of sex every five seconds. I don’t know if that’s true or not but this book certainly makes clear that even when you’ve been shot twice, gassed with sarin, and left for dead in the middle of an Isis overrun, there’s still time to make a pass at the pretty girl. Ug.
