Publisher's summary

The year is 1771. Claire Randall is still an outlander, out of place and out of time. But now she is linked by love to her only anchor: Jamie Fraser. They have crossed oceans and centuries to build a life together in North Carolina. But tensions, both ancient and recent, threaten members of their clan.

Knowing that his wife has the gift of prophecy, James must believe Claire, though he would prefer not to. Claire has shared a dreadful truth: there will, without a doubt, be a war. Her knowledge of the oncoming revolution is a flickering torch that may light his way through perilous years ahead - or ignite a conflagration that will leave their lives in ashes.

Wonderful voices!

I don’t know how she does it but Davina Porter is able to imbue each character with a voice, inflection and accent so unique that you can tell immediately who is speaking as though the person was real. Her command of the accents of Scottish, English, American, French, Gaelic, Aristocratic
to peasant language is truly a magical skill. I am a huge fan!!!

Great book, amazing narrator!

Davina Porter is great to listen to. It's easy to know which character is speaking because she has a different voice for each character. And her accents are great! This is my second time through The Fiery Cross, the first time I read it for myself. I love all of the Outlander books written by "Herself". Diana Gabaldon is such a great story teller! I enjoyed listening to it this time around more than reading it myself, which I attribute to Davina Porter's talents.

perfect! such a fabulous job with it all!

Davina does such a great job switching between the characters. rather it be a soldier, a drunk, a man, a child, an Irish , or a bostonian, she can capture them all with emotions and enthusiasm that moves the story along and keeps me "turning pages!"

The Fiery Cross

Book 5 of an extraordinary series. In 1992 I was given Outlander and when Diana had finished the second I was at the bookstore like a flash. They only get better and better with each page and there are a lot of pages. So when I “found” Audible and a good 20+ years later I was in heaven. I still have all my books but with age I get so sleepy when I read so this is wonderful and I remember every part of the novels. Davina Porter definitely needs a raise (😂). She is Devine!

Many thanks to Diana Gabaldon, the man in the kilt and the beautiful Sassenach!!!!

Fast beginning and Good ending

Tough to get thru the middle. So many details. Makes up for it in the end.

Love these characters!

Jamey, Claire, Brianne and Roger are characters I can't get enough of. The icing on the cake is that the author continually introduces wonderful new characters who could support whole books themselves, as she did with Lord John. Ian is especially interesting and engaging, I hope he's a major part of next book .
