Wonderful but I preferred the abridged version

I listened to this after I listened to the abridged version and found that I enjoyed the abridged version better. This version does add quite a bit of detail but nothing I would say that detracts from the story significantly and the extra length made it slower paced than some people would like. Choose this if you have time but choose the abridged version if you are more used to a Dan Brown type thriller.

I thought this book was extremely interesting--so refreshing to read a more plausible and more likely story of Jesus, as compared to the contradictory versions of his life as told in the Bible, which we know was edited and changed over the years by the male hierarchy of a very misogynistic church. I'd recommend it to any self respecting woman trying to get a better view of Jesus.

I loved this book. It's the best one I've read in quite a while. I would highly recommend it and I cannot wait for the rest of the series to come out.

Good book, but....

Would you try another book from Kathleen McGowan and/or Linda Stephens?

I had enjoyed reading all the books in this series. I figured the audio versions would be fabulous. I had a difficult time with the narrator.

How could the performance have been better?

To my ear, the narrator had a grating sound. It seemed like the narrator had difficulty differentiating between the female characters. The female characters had a pinched sound. It was unpleasant. That being said, it's all about personal preference.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

First of all I'd like to say that this is not "just another da vinci Code". For one it was written about 10 years or so before Dan Brown's book. Second, it goes way more into the story of Jesus, Marry and the beautiful love story between them.
The "Afterward" was really interesting but I wish it was in the beginning so I could have listened to it with that knowledge.
As a Christin who feels that Christianity has some major problems, I highly recommend this book for Christians & non Christians alike because is shows what the church & Christians are suppose to be like.
