It's about the hats!

Read from July 24, 1992 to July 24, 2016
Interesting tale first published in 1971 about spies, communism, Balkan States politics, and a widowed senior citizen amateur volunteer employed as a courier by the CIA. Call it historical fiction.
Just suspend disbelief for a while and enjoy this view into a time and place not so different from now with a fascinating cast of characters doing things improbable even then. The story line holds interest, and the length is far from epic. The series is addictive and yet appropriate for any age reader, maybe even Harry Dresden.

Great series
Where does The Elusive Mrs. Pollifax rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Absolutely loved this whole series. Narration was great except for the last book in the series. Loved the locations and the detailed description about the people, customs, and traditions. Mrs. Pollifax character was a delight and loved her. Listened to the series twice through I enjoyed it so much. The narrator was so good, I can't imagine that reading the books would have been nearly as enjoyable.

Slower start, great story in the end!
It took me longer than normal to get into this one. I felt the stories all were starting to seem the same. Stopped listening for a while. But when I picked it back up the story became more unique and had great unexpected twists and turns. Very well thought out writing. Great narration as usual! Now I will listen to more pollifax!

My first read of Dorothy Gilman. It won't be my last! My dreams may, however, suffer to solve the next mystery read before I finish the book as they did for The Elusive Mrs. Pollifax.

I rely on these reviews to help me choose my next book, so time for me to contribute. I love this series: narrator excellent, I get to travel many, often unusual places, and enjoy life as interpreted by an older, and very wise woman. Light hearted "spy stories" with unusual plots. Highly recommend!
