I barely finished

Would you try another book from Anne Marie Novark and/or Erin Mallon?

I will not try another book by Anne Marie Novark. I have listened and will continue to listen to books by Erin Mallon.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I just finished Come Away with Me by Ruth Cardello and my next read will be LOST IN ME by Lexi Ryan

Have you listened to any of Erin Mallon’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to other books by Erin Mallon. I think this had nothing to do with Erin Mallon's performance, but the story itself.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No

Any additional comments?

The heroine was the problem in this story. First she made this ridiculous promise (about the land) to her dead husband that she did not even love two years ago when he dead. However, she has no problem breaking a promise to her friend and Cameron's mother. Then she says ridiculous things to Cameron that she has to take it slow because of the memory of her dead husband AND remember this is not this is the husband that she did not even love...ever. Cameron was the one that she thought of for all those years. And then there are other ridiculous comments but I do not want to give those away. I do not know why Cameron even wanted to be with her. Sure the town "loved her" but she was ridiculous.

What a let down!

What did you like best about The Doctor Wears a Stetson? What did you like least?

I wish I could say I enjoyed any of it.

The narrator was not very good at these characters. Last time I checked the people of west Texas don't sound like California Valley kids from the 1950s. The dialog was so corny I had to make fun of it at times. The two main characters had no personalities and were just all around extremely boring! The story was also way to predictable. It was a bummer.

Sweet romance

This is a very nice sweet romance. The narrator did a good job. Her voice wasn't sugary sweet like some of them are.

So many words, so little content.

This trite little tale seemed to drag on forever, despite there being very little actual story. The heroine was so stupid that any credibility was impossible to maintain. It was in the sale for good reason but any price paid would be more than it is actually worth.

You know it’s bad when…

I did listen to this but what a painful experience! I kept asking myself why I continued to listen when I really hated the main character, what an inane twit! It is always a sign I should hang it up when I despise a character that I should be pulling for, however, I did finish it. Erin Mallon is always great so at least it had that going for it.
I guess I hoped it would get better and I wanted to give this author a chance but don’t waste your time, energy or money.

Don't even waste a penny on this.

Pure drivel. Whiny, insecure woman who keeps making excuses for not loving the typical virile man. Not sure why it's even in my Audible library or why I listened to it. Narrator was just as whiny as the heroine.

Narrator made this book worse.

I was so disappointed with this book. I have never met so many stupid people in my entire life. The way the narrator read the people was as if they were all airhead. Her voice lilts in odd place and she does not have a good repertoire of voices. In fact her male voices are just awful! I don't know why this book was was six hours. It could have been done in one. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!

OMG! and not in a good way!

Very immature. It was all I could do to finish it. The story lacked, the characters were kind of whack and the mother was not dealing with a full deck. The narrator spoke as though she were from Wisconsin pretending to be a valley girl. The whole thing was irritating. Sorry. Have NOOO idea how it got 5 stars. Good heavens! This was corny.

Need some cheese with this WHINE

This book was not only very predictable but the heroine whined and worried so much, I decided our hero was STUPID for even bothering with her. **Spoiler Alert** The biggest irritant was the degree to which "she couldn't marry him because she was barren". Oh, PLEASE! I just wanted to slap her.

If Ms. Novark cut out most of the sniveling, she'd find she had a nice little short story. I can deal with predictable but this was also vapid.
