"I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE LORDS SERIES"

If you've listened to the other Lords Of The Underworld books then you will know what you are getting - a love story with a twist. This one is about two gods - Atlas and Nike who start off hating each other then there's struggles and a happy ending.

What more do you want from a 1hr 51 minute book!!

    "Good Book"

This is a good direction in the series of the Lords of the Underworld. I am really looking forward to the next book and what part these two people play in it. There is also a glimpse into another book, I am looking forward to it also.

    "Simple and predictable."
Would you try another book from Gena Showalter and/or Max Bellmore?

I'd consider trying something a little longer. This book is a short listen and just didn't pull me into the characters enough.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    I'm not sure just yet.

What three words best describe Max Bellmore’s performance?

    Strong. Clear. Masculine.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Darkest Prison?

There wasn't much story to bother cutting anything out.

    Any additional comments?

I’ve literally read hundreds of story such as this one since I picked up my first romance novel at 13. There was nothing amazing about the story or the characters. The narrator did well but I think this is one of those stories that I’d have enjoyed more just reading rather than listening to.

    "Way too short"
What did you like best about The Darkest Prison? What did you like least?

This book is good but very short. There isn't enough time to develop the characters before the book is done. I'm hopeful there is a reason that will become evident in a future book.

"So much better than the prequel..."

Seriously. I found nothing what-so-ever redeeming in the so called prequel novella for this series. This, however, did have a nice story to it and was a fun listen in and of its self. I'm not sure that added much to the rest of the series, but at least it felt like the same world, same author, etc where the prequel didn't.

    "Short, but sweet."

Another hit from Gena Showalter to go along with her LOTU series. Hopefully we will see Nike and Atlas in the remaining series. I like how Gena arcs her stories so that there is a buildup of anticipation for her remaining books in this series. Plus we get to see how the other characters from previous books are faring. Since I like short stories this a good one to add to my collection, but it is advised to read books in order.

    "Good transitional novella"
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was only two hours filled with some creative parts, so it wasn't a waste of time. I probably won't be listening to it all the time, but it's ok.

If you’ve listened to books by Gena Showalter before, how does this one compare?

It's in the back of the pack. I don't really care about the Titans, but it was a good listen.

What three words best describe Max Bellmore’s performance?

    a little shaky

Did The Darkest Prison inspire you to do anything?

Not tick off Kronos, that's for sure.

    Any additional comments?

In a lot of these books the women are very cookie cutter but Nike isn't perfect. She is bigger and actually has muscles. Most men wouldn't give her a second glance but Atlus thinks she is perfect and she is to him. I love that. He found her beautiful and the things that would make her too manly, made him love her more. For a short story it was entertaining. I am thinking that it will help out in the next book too. There were hints.
