Publisher's summary

Carl Weber is a New York Times best-selling author who’s made a name for himself with wildly entertaining works marked by his trademark wit and storytelling panache. In The Choir Director, Bishop T.K. Wilson is banking on dynamic new choir director Anthony Mackie to reverse the failing congregation’s fortunes. But while Anthony’s got more than enough chops to raise a heavenly chorus, he’s also got a weakness for the ladies that could make the Devil himself stand up and take notice.

Low people in somewhat high places

A story filled with people trying to hurt each other. Foul language. Not at all edifying. Story interesting enough to keep me listening. Poor ending.

SNAKES IN THE CHURCH!!!

A work of fiction should always have enough drama to hold your interest, but this book goes above and beyond. I hope to NEVER attend a church with so many over-sexed people with such evil intentions for one another.

The story line is rather loose, but Weber pulled out his heavy duty super glue and tacked it together anyway and forced it to work.

I am familiar with Mr. Weber's work and there is always drama involved, but I usually find it entertaining. I was disappointed this time because of all of the overly-manufactured drama to the point that no one, no matter how much of a Christian they appeared to be, was above getting down and dirty.

Despite not being a fan of the story line, I was impressed with the reader's performances and how they made the book come alive.

Don't mess with the Church

From the beginning I didn't think this was going to be a good story but as I kept listening to it, wow it got soo much better. You wouldn't think that in the church house there could be soo much going on, so many secrets, mysteries, lies, love, hate, betrayal, and even suicide. This story has several villains in it who are out to destroy the church and the Bishop image, but with the help of the new choir director and his one true friend the villains fail at their plot to take him down. I truly believe that karma is a mother, and in this story the karma that comes back onto those who were out to do wrong to the Bishop. I think my favorite character is Tia and the Bishop's best friend. For one Tia has been through soo much but she still keeps her faith and tries to help others, even by herself. She does fall victim to a part of the scams done by the villains but for the most part she doesn't fall for anything and she learns to forgive and helps stand by the Bishop, the First Lady, and the Aaron the choir director. The Bishops' best friend is another character that I like in this book, he keeps it real, even when he is sick and down he still manages to help the Bishop and still gives his all to the church and what they built and believe in. Definitely ready for book 2.
