Publisher's summary

Carl Weber is a New York Times best-selling author who’s made a name for himself with wildly entertaining works marked by his trademark wit and storytelling panache. In The Choir Director, Bishop T.K. Wilson is banking on dynamic new choir director Anthony Mackie to reverse the failing congregation’s fortunes. But while Anthony’s got more than enough chops to raise a heavenly chorus, he’s also got a weakness for the ladies that could make the Devil himself stand up and take notice.

Then scandals of the church

I had the read one of Carl Weber’s novel the Black Hampton, it surprised me to find this novel to be so titillating especially around the church. It seemed to try and grab the reader through creating some vapid, thoughtless, even dumb characters. Nevertheless less I kept reading because the plot began to evolve, the performance of the main character Aaron Mackie was well done and I began to get curious about how all this intrigue would in. This book has it all, sex, scandal, betrayal, temptation, human frailty all in the name of the church. It also addresses friendship, relationship building and the risks of keeping secrets. With that said, I will read part 2 and Hope that some of those characters disappear and create a less sex driven and more developed and mature characters. Yes I am hooked, even as a senior citizen I enjoyed it. I would not have wasted my time reading it but it was fun to listen to in the car. The performances of all characters were spot on. I hope to find another family saga about black folks written by the author.

Great book

The title doesn’t fit the book. Maybe James final days or officers of the church would have been better names. Overall a good listen

I loved it!

Carl Weber never disappoints! Although I loved the ending, there is room for part two.
