Publisher's summary

The year 2060 is drawing to a close, and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. It's a time for loved ones to come together. But sometimes the deepest hatreds seethe within the closest relationships, and blood flows faster than water....

For Lieutenant Eve Dallas of the NYPSD, the job is a useful reminder of what she has to be grateful for this season. Hosting Roarke's big Irish family for the holiday may be challenging, but it's a joyful improvement on her own dark childhood.

Other couples aren't as lucky as Eve and Roarke. The Reinholds, for example, are lying on the floor of their Downing Street apartment, stabbed and bludgeoned almost beyond recognition. Those who knew them are stunned - and even more heartbroken by the overwhelming evidence that they were murdered by their own son. Twenty-six-year-old Jerry hadn't exactly made a good impression on all the bosses who fired him or the girlfriend who dumped him - but they didn't think he was capable of this.

Turns out Jerry is not only capable of brutality but taking a liking to it. With the money he's stolen from his parents, and a long list of grievances, he intends to finally make his mark on the world. Eve and her team already know the who, how, and why of this murder. What they need to pinpoint is where Jerry's going to strike next.

Well wont this give the story away? When Eve receives the gift from the girl she saved nixie

What about Susan Ericksen’s performance did you like?

I love that her voices for Peabody, Eve, and Roarke are so wonderful and dead on

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes yes yes!

one of my favorite jd robb novels

like all the characters and this is a good storyline to show how they work together. Also like that there is not any of the Eve Dallas neurotic history which has been, in my opinion ,overused in other books.

One of my favorites of the series

I am a major fan of J.D. Robb's In Death series. I buy most of these books on multiple formats, e book, audible ( to listen on my ride to an from work) and sometimes the print version.

As expected, Susan Ericksen does a superb job narrating the audio book. I can't give her enough praise. Her voices for each of the recurring characters is exactly as I hear them in my head. I love how she brings all the characters and the story to life

I love Eve & Roarke. As glamorous as their lives are, their emotions, married life, and friendships are realistic. Roarke supports Eve completely (mostly) and Eve is learning "the marriage rules" and working with him as a couple. Summerset is always a hoot. He is a reluctant fan of Eve's and it is funny watching how he tries not to show it.

The murderer that Eve and company must find here started his spree by murdering his parents and then moved on to other people he believed needed to die. Roake and the super E-team help Eve decipher a message hidden in the bits & bytes of a money transfer.

Roarke's family is in town which always makes Eve anxious. I love it.

I can't take any breaks when I'm reading an "In Death" book. They are a great adventure! I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves a good murder mystery with a beautiful romance woven through the story.

ANOTHER GREAT "IN DEATH" LISTEN!

I have listened to ALL of J. D. Robb's books in this series. Some better than others of course but I will always listen to future releases. I'm ready for the next release! Write faster Nora! : )

As usual, Susan Ericksen does a splendid job. If someone else does the narration in the future, for me, it would destroy the enjoyment of this series. Susan has made us know each and every character so well and to change to another narrator would make them total strangers.

This is a good addition to the series for sure!

Enjoyed the book

If you could sum up Thankless in Death in three words, what would they be?

Another easy listen

What was one of the most memorable moments of Thankless in Death?

The medal ceremony which was quite emotional.

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. She gets into the characters and is a great narrator.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Eve Dallas solves it again!

Any additional comments?

I sometimes find some of the scenes contrived and I don't particularly enjoy the sex scenes as I prefer the murder-solving bits. But I understand that is this author's stock-in-trade so I just forward past them.

One of my faves

This isn’t the typical Dallas mystery. There isn’t a cabal of terrorists or billionaire clone crazies. There’s one bitter, nasty punk with all of NYC to play in. For some reason his kills are insidious because he’s a neighbor who snaps. His lack of intelligence actually messes with Eve. There’s also a very moving scene where both Eve and Roark receive NYPSD’s highest cop and civilian awards. As well as the return of Nixie for some tear jerking at the end. Really felt this one!

Great love, great story, great cop!

I love Eve and Rourke, you can listen to these stories in any order and they all make sense. Great plot and I love listening to Eve track down her killer! This story even has a few teary-eyed moments. Susan Ericksen is Eve Dallas and all the other characters are realistic and recognizable as well, she does a great job! The killer in this story is especially heinous and Ms. Ericksen really shows her talent! Lastly, I love how Rourke loves Eve...it's special!

Wanting more.

I did like this book, but parts left me wanting more. I wanted more interaction with Roark's family, and Nixie. I wanted more banter and a little lighter hearted dialog. I think the dialog between the characters is usually amazing, very entertaining. I guess to much emphasis on the killer and not enough of Eve's "friends".
