Publisher's summary

After a terrible car accident destroys her life as she knew it, 20-year-old Kacey escapes to Florida, where she encounters an irresistible man determined to capture her wounded heart.

Just breathe, Kacey. Ten tiny breaths. Seize them. Feel them. Love them.

Four years ago Kacey Cleary's life imploded when her car was hit by a drunk driver, killing her parents, boyfriend, and best friend. Still haunted by memories of being trapped inside, holding her boyfriend's lifeless hand and listening to her mother take her last breath, Kacey wants to leave her past behind. Armed with two bus tickets, Kacey and her 15-year-old sister, Livie, escape Grand Rapids, Michigan, to start over in Miami. They're struggling to make ends meet at first, but Kacey's not worried. She can handle anything - anything but her mysterious neighbor in apartment 1D.

Trent Emerson has smoldering blue eyes, deep dimples, and perfectly skates that irresistible line between nice guy and bad boy. Hardened by her tragic past, Kacey is determined to keep everyone at a distance, but their mutual attraction is undeniable and Trent is determined to find a way into Kacey's guarded heart - even if it means revealing an explosive secret that could shatter both of their worlds.

Excellent story beginning to end! Great listen!

Would you consider the audio edition of Ten Tiny Breaths to be better than the print version?

Did not read the print version.

Who was your favorite character and why?

This would be a toss up between Casey and Storm. Casey for her strength and constant battles to stay healthy and deal with her demons, and Storm just because she is such a cool lady/

Have you listened to any of Elizabeth Louise’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not sure.

If you could take any character from Ten Tiny Breaths out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Casey, so I could be her friend.

Any additional comments?

This book is written in first person which I do not like normally. However the story line was gripping and had enough twists that I forgot about that distraction. This really is a great story and while is could be categorized as a "romance" it really is very different from the usual romance plots. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I highly recommend it. I am off now to look for more K.A. Tucker books.

Very enriching story!

Tucker writes very informatively on the effects of drunk driving, forever lasting deep grevance and the never ending PTSD & psychological horrors of all. This book SHOULD be a requirement for all drunk drivers whether death is involved or not!
I am so tired & frustrated by the many drunk drivers never ticketed because who they are or who/what they know. Let’s stop this!!!
Multiple cud dos to K A Tucker!

NEW FAVORITE !!!!

Wow! I was sucked in immediately!

The book is filled with endless twist and turns, and so many different things happen. Yet they all tie into the story line perfectly. I remember looking at the time left on the book a few different times and thought, "Wow....what else could possiably happen ? Or. What could Tucker possiably do to fill the the next 3/4s of this book with?"

It never got boring, it was none stop ride!

The whole thing was great! I also, often thought how very real these events and characters were.

And the narrator really was the whip cream and cherry on top of it all! She didn't seem like she was trying to hard. She was consistent with the different voices. And she had the appropriate emotions and tones.

I don't easily give out five stars.....but this was worth every single one!

This amazing story took my breath away

Any additional comments?

K. A. Tucker managed to grab me and hold my undivided attention till the end in this very emotional book. The plot is awesome. It’s edgy, its dark. It contains lots of great elements that pull the reader into the story. Though not everything is given to the reader at once, it simply leaves a trail of delicious bread crumbs for the reader to follow. With every piece, the story evolves, becoming much more potent at the end. I want to say more but… The love in this story has got to be the most wonderful and painful love ever. So many mistakes. So little time to fix them all. The past holding them back. The whole dynamic of their relationship and the love it brings to them is strong. I felt so taken back by the amount of trials that they went through. And for the guy to do so much for forgiveness and a second chance, its lovely.... I knew half way through that there is more than what I’m seeing. And when I got to the tidbit at the end…O.M.G. I love it. I love how well the author kept the reader entertained, that the reader could not see what what was coming next and yet it changes many things. But there is one thing that it can’t change…love..... I adored this book! It’s riveting and exciting that I still can’t get it out of my head. An edgy portrait of two people looking for forgiveness, the story can capture any reader. The struggle for a normal life, the pain of what they live through, Ten Ting Breaths is a successful start to the series. A stark and powerful drama, Ten Ting Breaths is stunning. *Elizabeth Louise done an awesome job with narration, just made this story the perfect package. :)

Life is Never Fair

What did you like best about Ten Tiny Breaths? What did you like least?

Best was how Kasey was able to bring herself back from her own self-induced death.Least was the using the same lines over and over throughout the novel.

If you’ve listened to books by K. A. Tucker before, how does this one compare?

No, I've listened to books by K. A. Tucker before.

Have you listened to any of Elizabeth Louise’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've never listened to any of Elizabeth Louise's performances before. However, she did a great job with the right inflections, brought the character's to life and was able to create voices that I was able to follow throughout the novel. I would listen to a book in which she was the narrator.

Was Ten Tiny Breaths worth the listening time?

Yes. Ten Tiny Breaths was worth the listening time. I was able to see just how difficult the loss of family and loved ones can definitely turn a person's life upside down. Why me?, reverberates throughout the novel. When Kasey was able to take her life back after the pleas of her sister, she struggled courageously to stay focused and think towards the future. She wasn't thinking of her future but that of her sister, Livie. She held unto this thought throughout the long road back to living in the present. Giving value back to her life was crucial to her healing from the inside out. The intervention of getting help for the PTSD that Kasey was diagnosed as having, from a professional, who specialized in this often overlooked illness, was her saving grace.

Any additional comments?

The novel was informative about many issues: survival, accepting help when needed, having a professional who does not give up on a patient but keeps chipping away until the layers upon layers of built up survival skills are finally exposed and broken down to acceptance that help is needed and received. PTSD is now recognized as an illness and is given the importance that has saved many lives from an unfilled life. There is still much learning to be had and accepted by mainstream America. PTSD is real and a life altering illness that can and does destroy lives of those with PTSD and their loved one's. The disorder has been around since the beginning of time, once know as shell shock. Those men and women were never afforded any treatment. They "existed," until death do you part. Provide for the care of men and women who return from a war. Give them the help they definitely need. Yes, expense is a factor. However, these same men and women helped keep America safe and more that deserve the help they desperately need.

Oh the Angst!

What made the experience of listening to Ten Tiny Breaths the most enjoyable?

I was very much invested in the characters I was listening to. The combination of the writing and the narration was a very nice combination. I was able to forget that I was listening to a book and just listen.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ten Tiny Breaths?

I like turning points, and there were a few in this book. Big character revelations and growth was almost a motto here, and I enjoy some well written drama.

Which character – as performed by Elizabeth Louise – was your favorite?

I really enjoyed everyone in this novel. The narrator was very good at character distinction.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, but I'm a busy gal so I wouldn't do that with any book. I can read faster than I can listen, and listening is a completely different experience.

Awesome story!

Any additional comments?

This is one of the best books ever. I have read and listened to many romance novels and the story lines are often similar. This book however was different. It was a plot like no other. The story pulled me in and grabbed my heart. I am wrapped up in the characters lives. I cannot wait to start the next book in the series.
