Madeline, Avery, and Nikki are strangers to each other, but they have one thing in common. They each wake up one morning to discover their life savings have vanished, along with their trusted financial manager - leaving them with nothing but co-ownership of a ramshackle beachfront house.
Throwing their lots in together, they take on the challenge of restoring the historic property. But just as they begin to reinvent themselves and discover the power of friendship, secrets threaten to tear down their trust - and destroy their lives a second time.

"The sexual magnetism between the bickering Chase and Avery, and a secret that Nicole keeps from her newfound friends, add dramatic tension to Wax's formulaic plot, showcasing three women who rise above their shattered realities with grace, determination, and a little elbow grease." (Publishers Weekly)
Yes and No! There was some bad language is this book. I do not like it!
The friendships developed by the characters in this story. I read the second book before the first so I knew a little bit about the first book. They had to work hard on remodeling the property. At my age I don't know if I could have. Takes me back to the saying 'Where there is a will There is a way".
Yes, because they were all trying to achieve the same goal. Get some of their money back that was stolen from them. All the while trying to keep their family from falling a part.
She did a very good job of making the different characters come alive.
A pretty good read minus language.
Three women from different lives and backgrounds lose everything they have. Together, different though they are, they must band together to protect and rebuild the only asset any of them has. What a journey! Mother Maddie, Worker Avery, and High Flyer Nicole couldn't be more different. What a wonderful adventure to watch them work together as they are joined by other characters to rebuild Bella Flora .... and their own lives.
This was an amazing display of facing challenges, in friendship, loyalty and love. And finding the newness in ourselves to expand beyond what we think we can.
The other two in this series
I felt like I was right there with all the Ladies and pulling for the renewed glory of the Bella Flora. Mental pictures were drawn in my mind of all the wonderful details of this magnificent mansion.
I loved the character development but would have like one more chapter to tie up some of the relationships . Maybe in the next book?
What a remarkable story of resilience, friendship, betrayal, trust, and the enduring strength of women. I can't wait to continue the journey with these remarkable women.
I loved this story, the characters and location. I got totally absorbed to the point I felt a part of the story and these were friends I've known for years. A feel good story I enjoyed very much. Wendy Wax you are a wonderful author! Can't wait to start the next book.
No. Because once 'round the story is told.
The sunset meetings and the unpredictable ending!
Not too bad
Yes, for the most part anyways. She used different accents/tones/ speech patterns to differentiate the characters
No... A few minor ups and downs but nothing really dramatic.
For the price I paid (got it on some audible 2 for one promo) this book was ok. If I had paid ful price I may have given it a lower rating.
