Publisher's Summary

Book 3 in the Whyborne & Griffin series

Previous book: Threshold

Mysterious happenings are nothing new to reclusive scholar Percival Endicott Whyborne, but finding one of his colleagues screaming for help in the street is rather unusual. Allan Tambling claims he can't remember any of the last hour - but someone murdered his uncle, and Allan is covered in blood.

Whyborne's lover, dashing ex-Pinkerton detective Griffin Flaherty, agrees to prove Allan's innocence. But when Allan is deemed insane and locked away in the Stormhaven Lunatic Asylum, Griffin finds himself reliving the horrifying memories of his own ordeal inside a madhouse.

Along with their friend Christine, the two men become drawn deeper and deeper into a dark web of conspiracy, magic, and murder. Their only clue: a missing artifact depicting an unknown god. Who stole the artifact, and why can't Allan remember what happened? And what is the truth behind the terrible experiments conducted on Stormhaven's forbidden fourth floor?

It will take all of Whyborne's sorcery and Griffin's derring-do to stop the murderers and save Allan. But first, they must survive an even greater challenge: a visit from Griffin's family.

    "Great 3rd Installment"

I don't know how many books are in this series, but I hope they keep coming. This is a wonderful 3rd installment in the Whyborne & Griffin romance/adventures. This is a turning point in their relationship, as well as Whyborne's increasing paranormal abilities. The story continues to bring the tenderness and love of their relationship by introducing more of Griffin's backstory and a visit from his parents. Of course chaos of the paranormal kind ensues. I loved it. Definitely worth a credit, but you really have to read this series in order.

    "When minds collide"
If you could sum up Stormhaven in three words, what would they be?

    Terrifying, Emotional. Rollercoaster

What other book might you compare Stormhaven to and why?

I cannot think of a comparable book however the themes of supernatural, what is within and, feeds into our everyday anxieties.

What about Julian G. Simmons’s performance did you like?

He conveys emotion very well. He is also able to build the excitement level.

Who was the most memorable character of Stormhaven and why?

Hard to pick just one as Griffin and Whyborne are both essential characters that ave a symbiotic relationship.

    Any additional comments?

This series gets better and better. The two central characters are fully developed as is their close friend Christine. You feel them grow as individuals as the series goes on as does the depth of their friendship.
The key theme in is about the mind and how we can connect with others.
This is underpinned with an exciting plot which for the period ( peak of the industrial revolution) it is set in has to encompass society's view on sexuality, gender roles and mental illness.
