Publisher's summary

Jasper Fforde's time-traveling and fiction-jumping detective Thursday Next is an international hit with fans and critics. Beginning with The Eyre Affair, a Book Sense Top 76 Pick, Thursday's adventures have all cracked The New York Times best seller list.

After spending her time chasing a stray Minotaur into pulp Westerns, filling in for Joan of Arc, and raising her infant son, Friday, Thursday needs a break in the real world. But her return to Swindon is far from relaxing. Rogue fictioneer Yorrick Kaine and the evil multinational Goliath Corporation are trying to rule the world, and a deadly assassin called the Windowmaker is tracking Thursday's every move. To top it all off, her husband is still missing after being eradicated from the timestream before they met.

Fans of Douglas Adams and Monty Python won't want to miss this charming detective adventure sure to tickle the funny bone and stimulate the literary mind.

Fantastic

A great twist, a memorable and moving ending, and a very unique story that is unlike anything else you have ever read.

My favorite book of my favorite series.

There is nothing else like the Thursday Next novels. Not only are books amazing examples of sci fi/ fantasy/parody/literary references, but Thursday is one of the best-written female protagonists written by a man.

Fun book, adequate reading.

Great book; Fforde's usual charming eccentricity. Generally good delivery, though some of the voices were a little grating.

excellent if revisiting story

This series is definitely meant to actually be read, but this is an excellent audio book if you have already read it and want to revisit Thursday and Swindon.

Best one yet!

Of the Thursday Next series, this is my favorite. I haven't laughed out loud this much while enjoying a book in a long time. I would give the book a 10 for its overall witty fun. I felt the ending was too muddled and bogged down an otherwise perfect book. I, too, missed Ms. Sastre's narration and almost opted to read the book instead of listen. However, I decided to keep an open mind, enjoyed the narration for the most part and am glad I listened!

very satisfying

It was a great story, mostly well told. Like all of the Friday books, it dragged in places. But everything came together in the end.

I too was disappointed in the change in narrators, but in the end it was OK.

I love love the nonsense world of Thursday Next!

Any additional comments?

The Thursday Next novels are some of my favorite reads and I think the author is brilliant to bring so much nonsense into a perfectly understandable story that is interesting, engaging and so very delightful! This book does not disappoint me in any way ....All of these books provide such an escape that they cheer me up no matter how grumpy I am that day.

Most fun series ever!

I love the Thursday Next series. If you're a book nerd who loves the classics and wordplay and alternate universes and hardboiled detective stories and straight up mysteries and a bit of scifi and time travel, this is for you. Jasper Fforde is endlessly clever and inventive. All these books stand alone just fine by themselves, but if you're patient enough to work your way through them all you'll discover Fforde has done something more significant than just write a bunch of random sequels.
