The narrator makes the story!

The narrator’s voice is absolutely perfect! It’s a little raspy and deep yet still feminine. I could listen to her read the phone book!

Very entertaining!

I’m typically difficult to truly entertain and am not a fan of celebrity, the famous or infamous, or high society in any way but found this story captivating in so many ways. From the narrator’s sultry and natural rhythm and tempo to the subtle scene shift made so eloquently, it flows and makes sense! Not one detail seemed to be missed in the historical references, not that I’m an expert of the period or figures referenced, but they were so well-woven that none jumped out at me, nor did the purpose of their inclusion escape me. Good prose, poignant characters and traits, and a solid story, I highly recommend this read.

Go Jo Go!!

I'm now a fan of author Jane Stanton Hitchcock after reading this book. I heard her a few years ago on an NPR interview and bought the download based on those merits. Now I'm so smitten with the strength of her lead heroine, Jo Slater, the strong society maven who has come back through thick and thin in Social Crimes and is now back in One Dangerous Lady. This is a great book! I highly recommend it!! Smart, funny, and if you want more, now a second book for those who can't get enough... like me!!

Dark Comedy at it's best!

I loved this author's story. The narrator kicked it up even a higher notch. It was funny and entertaining. This is a book for pure reading pleasure. I even bought a copy for a friend to take on a long train ride. Knew it would make the miles fly by. It was a true "Dark Comedy". The sequal was fab too.

great narration. interesting story. slow start but speeds up mid-way through. many 'extra' characters that dont serve much purpose other than cultural representation. good book for french enthusiasts

Great narration

The narration was excellent. The story was interesting and a little juicy. Story could have ended a few minutes before it did and been much better. There even might have been more intrigue, with any number of a few clever twists I imagined but it peaked and then fizzled, for me. Overall pretty good though.

Good but not great

The narrator did a wonderful job of the different accents and characters. Overall the story was a little over the top but pleasant. My biggest peeve is that it could have been told in half the time without all the drawn out descriptions and fillers.
