Publisher's summary

Number one New York Times best-selling author Sophie Kinsella returns to her beloved Shopaholic series with Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) newly arrived in Hollywood and starry-eyed. She and her two-year-old daughter, Minnie, have relocated to L.A. to join Becky's husband, Luke, who is there to handle PR for famous actress Sage Seymour. Becky can't wait to start living the A-list lifestyle, complete with celebrity sightings, yoga retreats, and shopping trips to Rodeo Drive. But she really hopes to become a personal stylist - Sage's personal stylist - if only Luke would set up an introduction. Then, unexpectedly, Becky is offered the chance to dress Sage’s archrival, and though things become a bit more complicated, it’s a dream come true!

Red carpet premieres, velvet ropes, paparazzi clamoring for attention - suddenly Becky has everything she's ever wanted.

Or does she?

A good listen but...

It's fun and easy to listen but... it seems to be a story without an ending. I can't say how disappointed I was when it ended just like that. Like one chapter is was missing.

That was it?!

Would you try another book from Sophie Kinsella and/or Clare Corbett?

Of course, I would try another Sophie Kinsella book - I love the Shopaholic series and her other works under SK. I would not, however, particularly enjoy listening to Clare Corbett again.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

The story should have continued....towards the end of this book, it seemed very rushed to tie up what loose ends were tied. The ending left much to be desired. Good setup for a sequel, I suppose.

Would you be willing to try another one of Clare Corbett’s performances?

No. Her voice for Becky was ok, but her "American" accent for the characters in Hollywood were pretty much atrocious and not consistent. Bryce sounded like a Muppet and several other voices sounded like drag queens.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Absolutely.

Any additional comments?

For Book 8, which there must clearly be, I really, really hope the narrator is different. I wish this book could have continued onward to complete more story lines, but I guess I will just have to wait for the next one.

Same old antics. Lol

Any additional comments?

First of all I love this series. It was this series that got me interested in reading books for pleasure not just a requirement for knowledge or mark. So this series and this author will always have a very special place in my heart.

While I was reading this book I found myself thinking "Ohhh come on Becky!!l and really getting irritated, but then I realized that everything she is doing, not doing, saying and not saying is so classically Becky. This is truly a story of an over the top person (in every possible way) who is surrounded by many people who clearly love her unconditionally. I choose to lover her the same way and really just enjoy the roller coaster ride.

Audiobook: I have to also say that the narrator was amazing and totally brought this book to life!! She makes me what to re read the series just so I can hear her as all the characters.

Style, Stars and Confronting Surfacey Selfishness

Would you listen to Shopaholic to the Stars again? Why?

I enjoyed the new narrator, though I also liked Rosalyn Landor as well. Definitely would listen again.

What other book might you compare Shopaholic to the Stars to and why?

Other Shopaholic Books in the Series

What does Clare Corbett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Great acting voices

Any additional comments?

Sophie's done it again. She captures Becky's surfacy desires with humour and aplomb but digs deeper to confront selfishness and bring redemption. Now I'm dying for the sequel!

Always love the Shopaholic!

Can't wait for the next one! Shopaholic is my drug of choice. I guess I need Eight more words to submit. Seems nuts.
