Publisher's summary

Loreen Murphy hadn't meant to hire a male prostitute in Las Vegas. It was all just a big, stupid, expensive misunderstanding. Abbey Walsh never intended anyone to find out about the fact that she's being blackmailed. As a minister's wife, her sordid past was supposed to be a secret. Tiffany Vanderslice Dreyer never dreamed that she'd find herself up to her eyeballs in credit card debt from one mad moment of a shopping spree. She's an upstanding wife and mother with the perfect marriage...right?

Secrets of a Shoe Addict is the story of three women who bond together when they find themselves in more than one kind of trouble. It's the story of how sometimes, you hide a secret side that can get you in - and out - of dire straits. It's about romance, friendship, kids, revenge, affairs, and most of all a love of all the well-heeled things in life.

Critic reviews

"Kick off your Keds (unless you're driving) and meet a motley group of D.C. women who bond over designer shoes. It's chick lit with heart and sole." ( People Magazine)
"Readers will root for these four plucky women. Like the designer shoes that pepper its pages, this book is pleasing and stylish. This frothy confection is sure to fly off the shelves this summer." ( Booklist)
"Harbison creates vivd, convincing characters and handles them well. Reading this novel is like eating a slice of cake." ( Publishers Weekly)

Name should be Secrets of Phone Sex Operator

Loved Shoe Addicts Anonymous. Thought this would be similar. NOT! PORNOGRAPHY. Too much graphic detail of phone sex operators. Nothing about shoes, but about women who become phone sex operators. Was horrible, quit listening and want my credit back!

Not my favorite

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I'm a fan of Beth Harbison, but this book just didn't do it for me. The storylines felt trite and predictable. I thought this would read more like a sequel to "Shoe Addicts Anonymous." I'm sure I'll read more of Harbison's books in the future, but this one definitely wasn't my favorite.

Disappoining

What would have made Secrets of a Shoe Addict better?

The story slowed and just lost its momentum.

Would you ever listen to anything by Beth Harbison again?

Yes, she was a good narrator.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Secrets of a Shoe Addict?

I didn't read the whole thing so I cant comment. I just lost interest in listening to this about half way through.
