Delight in the journey and the struggle on the road to your dreams
Alice and Miranda are law partners; Miranda has to practically force Alice to go on Holiday to her villa in the south of Portugal. Then Miranda's daughter Joy decides that she needs a short vacation. Uptight Alice meets hedonistic Joy, conflict ensues, lust follows, lust so strong that it must be satisfied.
Put that way it sounds simple but aren't all stories pretty simple when put in broad outline. The writing is well done and there are fewer of the contrived breakups and multiple cliches that litter many american romances. The natural problems of a relationship between a fifty year old and their friend and business partner's thirty year old daughter are explored as well as a couple of surprises. I'm not at all certain that this selection deserved five stars but I liked the fact that many of the genre's usual errors were avoided enough to raise it's ranking to the top number.
Harper Bliss really out did herself with this one! The narrator did an excellent job as well! The story line was very enjoyable. I did not want to turn this one off. Great listen if you are a Harper Bliss fan. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Seasons of Love by Harper Bliss is a nicely written romance, in which Alice and Joy, two women who are in two different seasons of their lives fall in love. This is a story of reflection, love, laughs, age, and friendship and it shows that love can happen at any age.
Carmen Rose, the narrator, does a great job narrating the novel. The book is written from Alice’s point of view and I feel that Carmen nailed Alice’s voice. She has a lovely British accent that fits the characters perfectly.
I wholeheartedly recommend this (audio) book.
