As much as I love music, I'd rather listen to a book. I love being taken far far away while doing everything.
I've always loved this story. Too bad it's abridged for audio but I have the hard copy.
As we see time and time again throughout history, it only takes one voice, the rest will follow.
I must admit I didn't see that it was an abridged audiobook ...
I wanted to follow on with my paper copy of the book. After I realised I could not follow along with the book, I simply tried to listen to the story.
I found that the way the author writes is like a series of facts. No doubt Keneally wants to make sure that he presents a true accurate account of what happened, so maybe that is why he writes that way, but I found that there was little suspense in the book, unlike the movie where I genuinely on the edge of my seats.
Instead what I felt we got was a series of dry facts ...
I loved the important message of both this book, audiobook and the film
... for me I don't think this abridged audiobook tells the story in as clear or as compelling a way as the film unfortunately.
(perhaps an unabridged version would have done better, I'm not sure)
Perhaps watch the movie again ... it made me realise what a fantastic job they did with the movie to make it a cohesive and suspenseful story
It is an important story and an important book
... but this abridged audio recording was too dry for me unfortunately
Sometimes, I believe in as many as six impossible things before breakfast.
This was an excellent book, though I wish there was more. I am surprised that the Unabridged version is not offered.
The narrator's voice is very nice to listen to and his pronunciations are right on. The story is compelling and inspiring.
does not bring the full story- alltestimonials are missing
It is not Thomas' Keneally's fault
His personality. although he dos not pronounce right many German names and words
As I said - the grim details are missing. I am comparing it to Schindler's Ark - It is the same but the book includes testimonials and details that the audio version does not include. I wonder why this is.
Its the abridged copy
his accent threw me off i could barely understand him
book is a great one
I am very disappointed that this is the abridged copy so it skips throughout the whole book... it doesn't even tell the whole story
Intense compassion crazy
Schindler's acquiring the jews who were on the list to be sent to a consentration camp to work in his factory
The man who deified an empire
Not only go for history students but for anyone who wants to know about truly loving one's neighbour as oneself.
The panache and risks that Oscar Schindler took to save as many people as he could from the Nazi concentration camps. His bravado.
How wonderful a human spirit Oscar Schindler was and his contribution to saving lives, albeit small in comparison to the gross atrocities that occurred. He truly is a lion-heart for all that he risked and accomplished.
Oscar - because he is portrayed as a worthwhile human being who was not swayed by the propaganda machine. In essence, he risked his life for the Jewish community. He didn't have to do that, but his compassion for justice was strong.
Just made me sad that the world has to live with that event forever - may we never forget, and may we be ever on guard for it to ever happen again. I feel especially for all the
Great film. Great book. This is the first time I have read a book after having seen the film but I was never disappointed.
