Publisher's summary

During the Holocaust at the German concentration camp near Plaszow, thousands of Jews lost their lives at the hands of the Nazis. More than a thousand others were spared thanks to a womanizing, heavy-drinking, German-Catholic industrialist and Nazi Party member named Oskar Schindler. One of the most remarkable narratives of the Holocaust, Schindler's List masterfully recreates the daring exploits of Schindler, who used his enormous fortune to build a factory near the concentration camp and his influence to save the lives of more than 1,300 Jews. It is an absorbing, suspenseful, and moving account of Schindler's legacy of life.

Powerful

Powerfully written. Perfect performance. I only wish there were an unabridged version available. The writing captures the horror and strength of the victims and the doggedness of Schindler's efforts to protect them.

The movie did not do this story justice...

The movie may have brought this man back to the attention of the world, but falls far short of everything he risked and did. This book tells the whole truth and Ben Kingsley excels as narrator.

it was better than Jurassic Park 2. aka it was ok.

naration was good for a book with little dialogue but still felt very boring. I recommend reading the book rather than just plain listening to it unless your lazy like me.

Schindler a Saviour

What did you love best about Schindler's List?

The panache and risks that Oscar Schindler took to save as many people as he could from the Nazi concentration camps. His bravado.

What did you like best about this story?

How wonderful a human spirit Oscar Schindler was and his contribution to saving lives, albeit small in comparison to the gross atrocities that occurred. He truly is a lion-heart for all that he risked and accomplished.

Which character – as performed by Ben Kingsley – was your favorite?

Oscar - because he is portrayed as a worthwhile human being who was not swayed by the propaganda machine. In essence, he risked his life for the Jewish community. He didn't have to do that, but his compassion for justice was strong.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Just made me sad that the world has to live with that event forever - may we never forget, and may we be ever on guard for it to ever happen again. I feel especially for all the

Any additional comments?

Great film. Great book. This is the first time I have read a book after having seen the film but I was never disappointed.

One of the greatest stories of humanity!

I've always loved this story. Too bad it's abridged for audio but I have the hard copy.

As we see time and time again throughout history, it only takes one voice, the rest will follow.

A True Hero

When confronted with danger, most people will shy away but Schindler did not and not only did he not shy away but he risked everything to save as many people as he could during the Holocaust and no matter how many times I hear this story I can't help but get goosebumps and chills. He was such a great hero and his deeds will forever be remembered by the entire families for every one of the thousands of people he saved. Making this book that much better, Kingsley does a great job as the narrator. It's hard to say this, but this book could actually be better than the classic movie starring Liam Neeson, who was nominated for an Oscar for his outstanding portrayal of the late great Oskar Schindler. Also, I really enjoyed the ending of this book and how Schindler made out following WW!!.Found that to be very interesting and something that I definitely did not know beforehand.

Two thumbs up and highly recommended!!
