Safe Harbor is a lesbian romance and the first of seven stories in the Provincetown series.
Narrated with breathy uplift by Nicol Zanzarella, we follow Provincetown’s new deputy sheriff, Reese Conlon, a tough, smart, beautiful, and suddenly available woman. Sherrif Conlon’s swagger puts the women of Provincetown in a tizzy, but it is the brilliant Dr. Victoria "Tory" King who ultimately wins her affections. Yet the flame of new love is often at its brightest right before it flickers and dwindles down to nothing. Will the pair’s passionate relationship sustain the ordinary pains of regular life?
Several other subplots are interwoven in this poignant - and often very steamy – "slice of life" story.
A mysterious newcomer, a reclusive doctor, and a troubled gay teenager learn about love, friendship, and trust during one tumultuous summer in Provincetown. Reese Conlon, LtCol USMCR, is the new sheriff who has heads turning amidst speculation as to who will be the first woman to capture her attentions. Doctor Victoria King has been betrayed by love once and refuses to risk heartbreak again. Brianna Parker, the teenaged daughter of Reese's chief, fears her father’s wrath when he learns that she loves another girl. As these three women struggle to live and love in freedom, they risk their hearts and souls to give one another a safe harbor.

rambunctiously soft spoken.
Maybe two stars was a little harsh for story but it was getting so over done towards the end maybe not.
Two things put me of here the repetitiveness of the story the same fell and dialog was getting a bit thin, I always enjoyed and looked forward to Radclyffe's story's in the lesbian short stories audible has but perhaps that's the problem length, filling holes in her story's with sex seances that are not terribly imaginative ,the last few I have read fell like it's a race to get to the end rushed and clunky.
Right if you have decided that Radcyffe is for and you don't care for my opinion that's cool but please beware of this narrator for some reason she takes a sharp breath before every sentence I was amazed she didn't pass out from lack of oxygen I found it very disruptive perhaps you like like that kind of thing but personally I'm done...
I'm Audible's first Editor-at-Large, the host of In Bed with Susie Bright -- and a longtime author, editor, journo, and bookworm. I listen to audio when I'm cooking, playing cards, knitting, going to bed, waking up, driving, and putting other people's kids to bed! My favorite audiobooks, ever, are: "True Grit" and "The Dog of the South."
Radlyffe’s particular brand of tough ladies, and opposites attract lesbian romance, always draws me in.
In “Safe Harbor” we are in Provincetown where the city’s new deputy sheriff is a cut above. Tough, beautiful and mysterious she's the envy of her co-workers and catches all the ladies' eyes.
Her counterpart Dr.Victoria Parker is reserved and reclusive, but there’s smoldering chemistry that increases with every meeting.
Radclyffe’s story is a satisfying emotional experience with well drawn characters and not a few surprises in the plot.
Nicol Zanzarella’s reading is smart and sexy. I could feel the sea breeze in her voice.
The topic of loneliness and uncertainty of LGBTQ youth, our kids, is handled with grace and understanding. Some of us can still remember that time in our lives. Paired with that is the introduction to an adult love between the scars of one woman's heart and the near innocence of another's. If only love could be that brilliant, passionate, and simple. This is a Great series of stories filled with an equally great series of complex characters. Someday I'll visit Provincetown....
I loved the developing love between the two main characters.
I would take Reece out to dinner. Loyal, sensual and gorgeous.
Love love love this book, and series! I enjoy Radclyffe's work over all, but the P-Town series is by far the best in my opinion. The narrator is truly great here as well. She really made you connect with the characters. I hope she narrates more lesfic!
I love this book. I love this series. I personally found Radclyffe by mistake, I was tired or reading Nicholas Sparks books about straight couples. Great books but I wanted something I could relate to a little more. I started with the Honor series, then Justice Series and finally with the Provincetown Tales. These are by far my favorite. I love Reese. She is everything I wish I was so I guess I am like Bri. In Safe Harbor you get little pieces of who Reese is and there is so many different back stories that make you feel like this isn't a fictional character it could be someone who know. The characters really come to life. I had a lot more written then discovered I was writing spoilers so I deleted it. Seriously please read this book its amazing.
Can I say everything? I loved this book. I love this series. I think what I loved the most is the fact that while the book is about two woman falling in love, it touches on so many different social issues. It is just a beautiful story.
No, but she did the entire series and she is great. Not as good as Betsy Zajko but leagues above Abby Craden. She has a beautiful voice and you can easily get lost in her voice and Radclyffes words.
There was. I do not want to talk about it because it gives away some really special parts of the book. I would say in this book I can easily think of 3 different times I was moved.
I have listened to this series at least 4 times and am working on my 5th time. It is such a great story, I hope she writes more for it soon.
Say something about yourself!
The narration. I always love when the voice vary from character to character. The distinction between Reese and Tory was very well done. The emotion that Nicol Zanzarellebut into her narration left me wanted more. All and all, very good.
The love between Reese and Tory. The emotions and anger of Bri Parker and her father, Nelson.
When Reese first kissed Tory and Tory said, "Sheriff Colen, I do not intend to sleep with you in your patrol car."
When Reese was shot and Tory screamed at Nelson to let her go.
This is the beginning of a very good series in my opinion. Reese Colen and Tory King is the type of lovers that Radclyffe is known for. Two people who fall in love and stay in love. I would have liked to have known a little bit more about Kate, Reese's mother and her partner Jean. Nicol Zanzarelle did a masterful job of narration. Highly recommended.
Yes. This is one of my favorite book by Radclyffe.
She did a good job reading but the loud inhalations was a distraction and hard to get use to.
Absolutely....great story line with engaging characters...I was there right with the characters living what they were living. Excellent book.
Radclyffe writes like Nicolas Sparks did when he first started out and Hunter Green. Hunter Green's books have the same easy smooth reading just like Radclyffe. She has tender love stories with clever plots and storylines, and none of them seem to be the same so far. I love the way this author writes, very detailed in what needs details but not so technical in her details. I can see the scenes in my head when I listen to these books and even reading her books.
She has a great voice for the book, and great reflections. I was in tears and rooting for the heroes because I didn't want anyone getting hurt. Although I would have loved to know in detail what the military/deputy did to the guy in the truck besides arrest him. I have heard a lot of books since this venue came out and there has only been a couple that I simply couldn't listen to. This lady is not one of them. She engages in her narrating. I loved it.
The lady who owned the gym who was a very good friend to everyone. She kind of reminds me of me in that she sees a lot and doesn't hold back what needs to be said. I loved her style. She seems to be the gatekeeper for this little town, having lots of stories to share.
This is the 3rd book that I have read where Radclyffe is an author. I love the way she writes and I had no idea that she has so many books that she has written. I can't wait to read them all.
"Hard headed but sweet"
yes I would, the book is enchanting, captivating, and exciting. Radcliffe always keeps me on my toe and wide eyed.
Tori was a great character. I really love the way she showed her love even though she did not want to admit how much in love she was with Reese.
I really enjoyed when Reese and Tori first kissed. It showed how much they both really cared for each other, even though Tori ran from the affections afterwards.
At first I was not really into the book but then it really hit me and i couldn't wait for the two to get together
All of the Radcliffe books are really enjoyable. I look forward to listening to many more of his books in the future.
I've listened to this over & over again. Abbie Craden really brings Radclffe's characters to life. A great book & a great listen.
"Enjoyed it but could have been better"
The constant long lingering drawn out sounding of the last word in every sentence can be annoying...
I loved that although it is very subtle this must have been originally a fan fic story. the dark hair blue tall heroine could be more obvious with a young gentle hazel bard :)
Tavia Gilbert without a second thought
yup but doubtful
