Publisher's summary

He's different from any man she's ever known. However, she's sworn never to risk her heart again.

Brooke Baker, sold as a mail-order bride, looks to her future with dread but firm resolve. If she survived Uncle Jackson, she can survive anyone. When Sky Jordan hears that his nefarious cousin has sent for a mail-order bride, he knows he has to prevent the marriage. No woman deserves to be left to that fate. Still, he's as surprised as anyone to find himself standing next to her before the minister.

Brooke's new husband turns out to be kinder than any man has ever been. But then the unthinkable happens and she holds the key that might save innocent lives but destroy Sky all in one fell swoop. It's a choice too unbearable to contemplate...but a choice that must be made.

A thirsty soul. Alluring hope. An oasis of love. Step into a day when outlaws ran free, the land was wild, and guns blazed at the drop of a hat.

Great first book!

Would you consider the audio edition of Rocky Mountain Oasis to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the print version.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My husband and I share an account so this is Samantha. I always remember the men better :) Sky is my favorite I like his character. He wasn't weepy like some men in romance novels. He was a good strong character.

Which character – as performed by Anne Johnston Brown – was your favorite?

She did a good job on all of them. I like her Sky voice I almost always knew when it was him just by his voice.

Who was the most memorable character of Rocky Mountain Oasis and why?

Sky again. I also liked the China lady that ran the store. My mind is terrible with names and I don't think you can ever get into a story as well when you listen to an audio book. You miss little things and I will more than likely listen to this again at some point.

Any additional comments?

Spoiler Alert:

Thoughts from Samantha. I liked this book it made me cry once, sorry I'm terrible at names, when the man came back to give his money back to Sky for the purchase of the bride that got to me. I love it when people come to the Lord.

If you like westerns you'll enjoy this. The narrator is great she does such a good job. The storyline is believable, and the settings are great.

Wonderful story

I have listened to many audio books. This book is by far one of the best I have heard. Anne Johnston Brown is absolutely wonderful with her narration. The story within the story is the best! Learning that Christ loves us regardless of our past never gets old. His unconditional love is depicted well within this story. What a surprise at the end to find parts of this story are factual events in history. I’m excited to listen to the entire series!

EXCEPTIONAL STORY AND MESSAGE

this story encompasses an ophan girl of 15 and the horrors she suffered at the hands of her uncle and the first man she thought she loved. After her first relationship failed her uncle was quick to sell her off as a mail bn order bride for his $50.
o. hearing his cousin Jason had bought a mail order bride, Skye knew he had to do something to rescur ghis woman from what was sure to be a miserable life. he made his way to the last stage coach station before its destination. Without a plan Skye prayed God would guide him on his quest to intervene in his cousin's wedding. Skye never expected to end up martied to the girl.
Their marriage was strained and Skye continued to pray, knowing his wife did not shate his faith. he knew the best way to help her was to show her how God ecpected him to respect her. Gradually he noticed her fear of him began to lessen.
It was their first trip to town and Skye showed her around introducing her to his friends. That night one of thosr friends wss brutally murdered enduring horrors before his death. suddenly the quiet town filled with men from all around demanding justice and pointing fingers at the Chinese in towm. Tensions grew as prejudice spurred it on. Trials and tribulations had to be faced not only by the town but the newlyweds, as justice was seeked for the murder. a murderer was in town, seeking revenge for being spurned in seeking the hand of a giel with money. His interesy also included an interest in yhe new bride he had previous met. could she be saved from this man? Could she find her way to God? Would Skye be able yto prevent an unlawful trial, a mob hanging, his wife death? Would Skye's cousin seek his own revenge against the cousin he was once best friends with for stealing his bride to be?
This book is a page turner inviting the reader into the story to meet the characters, enjoy the intrigue as it unfolds, feel their heart race, hold their breatj, know their relief as the threats are extinguished to flare up again in flames of hatred and sin. Throughout the story, the author introduces the words of God and yhe lessons he teaches up to lead us to peace and salvation. Gently Interspersed in the story is Gods words, without force but gently leading the reader to the same knowledge she introduces her characters to. After the story ends. the author shares a fact with the reader that is surprising, pethaps shocking, giving readers new insight and another mystery to ponder. Dont misx the oportunity to read this book. Beautifully written and narrated, this story is one you will not want to miss!

Wonderful book!

This was the first time I read a book by Lynnette but she has me hooked. I especially enjoyed the Scripture references and the love and forgiveness.

Sky is divine

This book was entertaining and informative. The characters were not as realistic as I thought they could have been, but they were interesting.

Mmmmm......was it a sermon.....or a story?

What did you like best about Rocky Mountain Oasis? What did you like least?

The story about the mail order bride was pretty good. Kind of typical plot line. But the story was ruined by the constant over the top preachiness of the entire book. I believe in God, and certainly don't mind a bit of Christianity in a book, but this writer was too much. I felt a bit like gagging a few times. Maybe the writer is torn between the desire to be a writer or to be a minister, and decided to do both. If that is the case, then she hit the nail on the head! If that sounds like a good mix, then this is the book for you. Me. Not so much.

Would you recommend Rocky Mountain Oasis to your friends? Why or why not?

No, I don't think any of my friends would enjoy the over emphasis on religion in the book.

Which scene was your favorite?

I don't think I have one.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

Less religion would have helped. I think you can portray some morality and strong belief in the characters without them sounding too much to be believed.

Loved it!

What did you like best about this story?

The faith aspect. The male character sounded a lot like Joel Olsteen and was just as humble too.

What does Anne Johnston Brown bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Helps you think about how you live your life.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

23rd Psalm
