Publisher's Summary

Meet the Sisterhood - seven very different women who found one another in their darkest days and formed an indelible friendship, strong enough to heal their pasts and bring laughter and joy back into their lives. In Myra Rutledge's beautiful Virginia home, amid hugs and fresh iced tea, shrimp fritters and shell-pink tulips, the friends have gathered to embark on their second mission of sweet revenge for one of their own. Julia Webster's husband, a U.S. Senator, has used his wife's graciousness and elegance to advance his career even as he's abused her trust at every turn and left her dreams for the future in tatters. Now, on the eve of his greatest political victory, he's about to learn a serious lesson in payback. Because the senator crossed the wrong woman...and there are six more where she came from....

    "great romp"

I really enjoyed the cast of characters, their brains and beauty and spunk. Well paced and fun listening to a good narrator. Helped make the time knitting samples go by quickly.
    Am downloading #3 right now.

    "Great Books"

As with all of the Sisterhood Series this was a totally enjoyable listen. Laurel Merlington does a superb job with the audio and I love the story line.

"Why did I waste a credit?"

I don't get all of the love given to this book! I won't waste any more of my time time by delving into the series. Lame, lame, lame. Sorry Fern Michaels fans, I can't be in the club.

"Found this book by accident and loved it"
Where does Payback rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This being the first one in a series has been exciting to hear. The women being strong figures is the real draw.

What does Laural Merlington bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It's as if I could see the ladies. I wish they would turn this into a tv program.

    Any additional comments?

I walk at the local rec center and I have to talk myself into it. When I discovered the books by Fern Michaels, Payback being the first one I can't wait to walk every day. I only listen to the books when I walk so I can hardly wait for the next day.

    "A decent guilty pleasure..."

Let's be honest - Fern Michaels fare is never going to be considered an example of the great American novel - but the concept of a bunch of female vigilantes is intriguing and I love that there's no "woman realizes in a moment of clarity that true vengeance is forgiveness" type of ending. Although I gotta say - this ADA Jack Emory is driving me NUTS!! I want him killed at this point.

Would you listen to Payback again? Why?

Probably not because I want to listen to the rest of the series first

What was one of the most memorable moments of Payback?

The most memorable moment was when I found out that the senator and the couple had been put "out to pasture"

Have you listened to any of Laural Merlington’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I listened to Weekend Warriors and she was awesome then and now

If you could rename Payback, what would you call it?

    Revenge of the fittest

I read book #1, 2, and 3. That is enough for me to see that this is not for me! I do not recommend such a hate feast!

    "Entertaining"

While just as entertaining as the first book in the series, the 'payback' in this one is not as undoubtedly justified as the one performed in Weekend Warriors, and that distanced me a little from the story this time. Still well worth a listen though, and I do not regret using my monthly credit on this.
