Publisher's summary

There's room at the inn. But you might not get out.

Nestled on a lonely stretch along the Pacific coast, quaint roadside outpost Harmony Corner offers everything a weary traveler needs - a cozy diner, a handy service station, a cluster of motel rooms...and the Harmony family homestead presiding over it all. But when Odd Thomas and company stop to spend the night, they discover that there’s more to this secluded haven than meets the eye - and that between life and death, there is something more frightening than either.

A bit different, but just as good

If you like Odd Thomas interacting with dead people this book is not centering on that. I liked this one because of the interactions between Odd Thomas and living people. Interesting characters, good story. Definitely worth the read.

Good but not great.

I love Odd's personality and it was great to catch up with Odd as it had been a few years since I read the last book. It was great to "catch up" again but the story itself was pretty much a repeat of previous stories.

Another great Odd Thomas story

These stories are Koontz at his best - a mix of action, humor, mystery and insight.

Read after 4!

I didn't read this book during my run through in the main series, but rather waiting to read it at the end. My reviews found that the middle books (3-5) were not as good as the bookends of the series. That was mainly because there are hidden answers at the ending. This is a hidden gem in the middle however! I wish I would have read this after book 4, it would have made getting to book 7 much easier. The Harmony family held my heart, and the monster that held power over them was mysteriously interesting, powerfully only from afar.
