Publisher's summary

There's room at the inn. But you might not get out.

Nestled on a lonely stretch along the Pacific coast, quaint roadside outpost Harmony Corner offers everything a weary traveler needs - a cozy diner, a handy service station, a cluster of motel rooms...and the Harmony family homestead presiding over it all. But when Odd Thomas and company stop to spend the night, they discover that there’s more to this secluded haven than meets the eye - and that between life and death, there is something more frightening than either.

About time

Any additional comments?

OK all the other rating categories are Non Applicable. In fact they are stupid. How about a rating on the book. Well here it is. Finally Koontz is back to writing the stuff I loved him for. Some of the last audio books (can I say this?) SUCKED. I gave up on his books for a few years, Now I find that The Odd Thomas is back and so is the old Koontz that I loved and bought his books for. How about some more Moonlight Bay stories. This book was great entertainment and I also finished the next Odd Thomas book. You'll have to read that review. I just downloaded number 6 and I'll let you know what I think,

Fun jaunt

It keeps with the style of the main series but doesn't have much bearing on it. A foray into true science fiction, this novelette has almost no paranormal facets. A second narrative voice provides another view of things as well as telling us parts of the story Odd otherwise wouldn't have known. Well done!

Book 4.1 ....

What did you love best about Odd Interlude?

... it's part of the series, although not in the right order.

What other book might you compare Odd Interlude to and why?

...

What does David Aaron Baker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

....

If you could rename Odd Interlude, what would you call it?

I think the name is fine

Any additional comments?

This book should be inserted between books 4 & 5, althought Audible does not indicate that.

So glad to find this!

I'm a big Odd Thomas fan and was really happy to see that Audible is making some of the shorter stories available, too. Since most of my reading nowadays is audiobooks, I couldn't have been more pleased to find a new OT listen. Dean Koontz and Oddy never disappoint.

Not the best, but still good.

Of all of the books I’ve read in the series so far this is definitely not one of the better ones, but the character and performance is so endearing that I still enjoyed it very much.

Meh

The narrator does a fantastic job with male voices but his female voices need work. AnnaMaria sounds like she's constantly whispering and it drive me crazy. I didn't care for the inclusion of Jolee's narrative until I realized why it was included at the end. And this Odd novel took on a far more sci-fi approach than I prefer. But Odd Thomas is still an endearing character who occasionally makes me laugh.

A little better

Like many faithful fans of Oddy, I've been disappointed with Koontz' recent efforts; however, 'Odd Interlude' has much of the charm that we have come to expect. I thought it worth the listen, but nothing to rave over. I found some of the teenage banter a bit overdone, but not to the point of complete spoilage.

David Aaron Baker's narration was, as usual, very competently done.

Bottom line - I'll hang in there for one more installment, but Koontz needs to pull a rabbit out of his hat or lose me after that
.
*** TINY SPOILER ALERT ***

I agree with other reviewers who say it's time explain the pregnant girl! Does Koontz think that her unexplained presence will keep us spending our money in hope of an answer? I don't think so. It's good writing that brings most of us back, and Koontz was trying my dedication until 'Interlude.'
