Publisher's summary

Number-one best-selling author Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels are: "irresistible" (Houston Chronicle), "stunning" (Booklist), "outrageous" (Publishers Weekly), "brilliantly evocative" (The Denver Post), and "making trouble and winning hearts" (USA Today).

New Jersey bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is certain of three truths: People don't just vanish into thin air. Never anger old people. And don't do what Tiki tells you to do.

After a slow summer of chasing low-level skips for her cousin Vinnie's bail bonds agency, Stephanie Plum finally lands an assignment that could put her checkbook back in the black. Geoffrey Cubbin, facing trial for embezzling millions from Trenton's premier assisted-living facility, has mysteriously vanished from the hospital after an emergency appendectomy. Now it's on Stephanie to track down the con man. Unfortunately, Cubbin has disappeared without a trace, a witness, or his money-hungry wife. Rumors are stirring that he must have had help with the daring escape...or that maybe he never made it out of his room alive.

Since the hospital staff's lips seem to be tighter than the security, and it's hard for Stephanie to blend in to assisted living, Stephanie's Grandma Mazur goes in undercover. But when a second felon goes missing from the same hospital, Stephanie is forced into working side by side with Trenton's hottest cop, Joe Morelli, in order to crack the case.

The real problem is, no Cubbin also means no way to pay the rent. Desperate for money - or maybe just desperate - Stephanie accepts a secondary job guarding her secretive and mouthwatering mentor Ranger from a deadly Special Forces adversary. While Stephanie is notorious for finding trouble, she may have found a little more than she bargained for this time around. Then again - a little food poisoning, some threatening notes, and a bridesmaid's dress with an excess of taffeta never killed anyone.... Or did they? If Stephanie Plum wants to bring in a paycheck, she'll have to remember: No guts, no glory.

Keeps getting better

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it is funny and the narrator did a wonderful job of separating the characters.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Not precisely but a lot was going on, and as the different criminals and plots started to unroll I got more and more interested in listening it until the end.

Which character – as performed by Lorelei King – was your favorite?

Stephanie Plum for sure.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE

One of my favorite series. This one wasn't as funny as some in the past but still as good. When that guy got hit by the car and then they shot the body.....I was too done. Whole office was looking at me I was laughing so hard. On to 20...

An improvement over the previous two books

I'm going to be generous and give Notorious Nineteen 3 stars ONLY because Ms. Evanovich gave us not only a clearly defined plot but a subplot and she refrained from adding the inane slap stick that dumbed down her 2 previous Plum books.

While Stephanie and Lula's dialog is much the same, the dialog of Ranger and Morelli is "off". The tired and much overused triangle is still in play with Stephanie "on again" with Morelli as she fights her feelings for and physical attraction to Ranger and tries to keep him at arms length.

Unlike the first dozen books in the series, there is no subtle humor in this book. All in all I feel as if Evanovich no longer has any love of the Plum world and sadly it has become "just a job" to write each book.

Oh Stephanie..............

What did you love best about Notorious Nineteen?

There just can't be enough Lula in these books! She is hilarious and really seems to be evolving into a more important role in Stephanie's life. I would love to have a 'between the numbers' Lula book!!! Would love to know what Lula and Tank's relationship was really like!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Stephanie and Ranger covering a wedding was def something to keep me involved! I am a die hard Team Ranger so I was hoping it made him think about his future with Stephanie!

Which scene was your favorite?

The mental picture of Stephanie in a tacky bridesmaid dress and sneakers was a true LOL moment!! I'm sure other drivers think I am a true crazy lady sometimes!! Love my Stephanie Plum books!

I've been a huge fan of the Stephanie Plum Series since the beginning. Narrator not so much but she's not the worst.

These negative reviews are getting old.

I really don't understand all the people whining and moaning. This has been a recurring thing I've noticed the last couple books and it boggles my mind.

People say "It's the same thing over and over again, it's so bland, I'm never gonna read another one of these again!" and then the very next book they show back up just to complain. I've seen several repeat, dispassionate reviewers continuously leaving poor commentary despite having said they were done with it all.

Well let me tell you, all these negative reviews are the same thing over and over again, they're bland, and if you enjoy the series you honestly shouldn't read another one of them.

I love these books, I love the author, and I love the narrator. They bring fun to my constant driving I do for my job even if they're "formulaic".

If you don't like them, leave. You aren't required to read them. Let the people that do enjoy them enjoy them. You are doing nothing other than channeling your inner Joyce Barnhardt when you spout your negativity. Nothing else needs to be said.
