Publisher's summary

Number-one best-selling author Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels are: "irresistible" (Houston Chronicle), "stunning" (Booklist), "outrageous" (Publishers Weekly), "brilliantly evocative" (The Denver Post), and "making trouble and winning hearts" (USA Today).

New Jersey bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is certain of three truths: People don't just vanish into thin air. Never anger old people. And don't do what Tiki tells you to do.

After a slow summer of chasing low-level skips for her cousin Vinnie's bail bonds agency, Stephanie Plum finally lands an assignment that could put her checkbook back in the black. Geoffrey Cubbin, facing trial for embezzling millions from Trenton's premier assisted-living facility, has mysteriously vanished from the hospital after an emergency appendectomy. Now it's on Stephanie to track down the con man. Unfortunately, Cubbin has disappeared without a trace, a witness, or his money-hungry wife. Rumors are stirring that he must have had help with the daring escape...or that maybe he never made it out of his room alive.

Since the hospital staff's lips seem to be tighter than the security, and it's hard for Stephanie to blend in to assisted living, Stephanie's Grandma Mazur goes in undercover. But when a second felon goes missing from the same hospital, Stephanie is forced into working side by side with Trenton's hottest cop, Joe Morelli, in order to crack the case.

The real problem is, no Cubbin also means no way to pay the rent. Desperate for money - or maybe just desperate - Stephanie accepts a secondary job guarding her secretive and mouthwatering mentor Ranger from a deadly Special Forces adversary. While Stephanie is notorious for finding trouble, she may have found a little more than she bargained for this time around. Then again - a little food poisoning, some threatening notes, and a bridesmaid's dress with an excess of taffeta never killed anyone.... Or did they? If Stephanie Plum wants to bring in a paycheck, she'll have to remember: No guts, no glory.

Love Stephanie Plum and Lula.

I really enjoy these books, the are funny and random. I love the characters and all their craziness. Although they are very much alike in many ways they are also good mysteries.

Perfectly Performed

It's like I was listening to the movie version. All the different accents and voice differences were amazing! I love all the Stephanie Plum stories so it was no surprise that the story was awesome!

My feelings on the whole series to date

I've listened to all the numbered books in this series now, except for 5 & 6, which Audible doesn't have for some reason. I like them because they make me laugh out loud, which I frequently want to do. I've enjoyed all the books about equally well. None of them struck me as much better or much worse than the others. For this reason, I'm just going to express my general opinion of the series.

Suspension of disbelief is an important part of reading fiction. If fiction precisely imitated real life, what fun would that be? It's fun to imagine all the incidents involving chases, guns, stun guns, Lula, Grandma Mazur, and exploding cars, to name a few. However, Stephanie's "love life" is stretching my suspension to the breaking point.

This girl supposedly has 2 super-hot "chick magnets" fighting over her--sort of. You'd think she must be something pretty special, but as far as I can tell, she's just a major pain in the neck to both of them. I can see Ranger keeping her as an entertainment line item in his budget, but I have no idea why Morelli puts up with her. She's just not worthy!

Morelli loves her. She loves Morelli. They have a long history together. He's good to her. By her own account, Morelli is extremely hot and incredibly awesome in bed. Plus, he wants to marry her. You'd think that would be all that any woman could dream of.

But no.

Ranger is "magical" in bed, whatever that means. She knows virtually nothing about him, except that he's never gonna marry her. For this, she continually plays games and jeopardizes her relationship with Morelli.

I don't think any man, either real or fictional, (especially a hot-blooded Italian) would keep up a relationship with Stephanie Plum unless she changes her wicked ways pretty darn soon. She's been lucky so far. I will lose all respect for Morelli if he continues to put up with it. Enough is enough! There will still be plenty of room for adventure and mayhem if she settles down with Morelli.

I hope the next book will put an end to this ridiculous love/sex triangle.

Aways enjoyable

If you could sum up Notorious Nineteen in three words, what would they be?

Just good fun.

Would you be willing to try another book from Janet Evanovich? Why or why not?

It is always good sometimes to just kick back, laugh and enjoy a Stephanie Plum novel. No stress, no fuss and you don't have to do a lot of heavy thinking. All you have to do is follow her from one burning car to the next and enjoy the witty dialog. Just keep them coming.

Have you listened to any of Lorelei King’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Lorelei King's performance is always hilarious. She adds so much to any book she reads. I sometimes wonder how she is able to be so on target with all the voices.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Lookout! Here comes Stephanie.

Love Love Love Stephanie Plum!

Such a great series. They are funny and light, just a good listen. I do wish they were longer but that's the only bad thing I have to say. A mystery with humor has to be my favorite kind of book. Enjoy!

Not as juicy as I had hoped

I love all of the characters and the narrator can't be beat but... the stories are wearing a bit thin. Maybe not enough Ranger in this one...
