When Charlie Porter meets Hazaar Alim her first year of university, she's instantly smitten. Hazaar has it all: beauty, talent, and brains. What she doesn't realize is that Hazaar's future has already been decided, and Charlie has no place in it.
Hazaar desperately wants to break with her traditions and stay with Charlie, but when forced to choose, she chooses her family over love. When she realizes the choice she made is the worst one possible, it's too late.
Years later, while working in Pakistan as a diplomat and negotiator, Charlie receives a phone call from a woman who says her British sister-in-law is to be killed for the family's honor and asks if someone can save her.
Charlie and Hazaar are on a collision course with destiny. If they make it out alive, can they believe in their love once again?

Loved the narrator and the accents she gave the characters. This book truly came to life and I plan to listen to it again in the near future. Wonderful story and definitely worth the credit!
Very refreshing novel! It's good to read an LGBT piece of fiction that current day and also tells a story that many of us in the west do not understand. This was an eye-opening story about the way women and different cultures are treated in the non-western world under old style thinking. However, this story also let us know that not everyone in those cultures subscribe to the same cruel and out dated thinking about different people and different ways of life. Very excellent and eye-opening Shing story. Also full of action and interesting detail about the culture from Pakistan and Islam. It contrast the true nature of Islam's love with the radical idealism from the old twisted thinking that we face from the radical groups today.
Do not pass up this story, well written, beautifully narrated and so heartfelt. I have added it to my favorites list!
This story is an emotional ride. It's sensual, funny, heartbreaking and uplifting. I would recommend this story to everyone. The narration is absolutely wonderful and definitely enhances the journey the story takes you on.
emotions, hot, emotions
i loved the devotion they have towards their families. Hazaar showed her devotion when she broke it off with charlie to save her father and brother's life. Also loved the sex scenes but really disgusted with the traditions portrayed in the book.
Loved both Charlie and Hazaar's performances.
i absolutely loved Hazaar's father. He was trruly a loving and understanding man. The things he did for his daughter, his acceptance and how he punished his wife for causing so much pain.
this book had me in an emotional bunch, i hate their culture. why the hell would someone want to arrange their childs entire life. Bloody hell who the hell sells their child to save their business???.
P.S. This is not Naquane!!!
Yes, the storyline was very well-constructed. The way the opposing timelines and settings built up to the apex of the story was brilliant. Really thrilling at many points.
The Honor series by Radclyffe, because of the nature of the love affair and the constant pursuit despite danger of protecting said affair.
She was absolutely brilliant. So glad that she was the narrator on this. The accents were flawless and she really knew where to put emphasis in order to inspire anticipation.
Hazar, because of her honor. She was also brought to great life and light by the author through Charlie's eyes.
This has been one of my favorite romances in a long time. Can't wait to hear from Andrea Bramhall again. What a truly talented creator!
I found myself looking forward to being in the car to listen to the next couple of chapters of this book. The characters have been well written and developed throughout the story. Just the right measures of suspense, cute moments and an unusual storyline. Would quite happily listen to it again sometime. Narrator did a great job too, she moved seamlessly between the different accents (and made it believable)!
"I couldn't finish it so...best I can say..."
I wish the sample could be longer because in the sample no accent was heard. Maybe it's a cultural thing, but I couldn't get into it. I cared nothing for the character or the story being told. It bored ms, I don't know if that was because of storyline or the narrator. Sorry, not for me
A truly exquisite story of love and extreme hardship and suffering! This story truly opened my eye, made me laugh and made me cry in equal measure. Read this, your really won't be disappointed.
I was not 100% sure whether this was a book I would enjoy. I have never been more wrong. This book was one of the best books I have ever read. I cannot tell much, but the emotion in it, the story and the way it was told was outstanding. Great read, cannot recommend it enough.
