If you want a fun, laugh-out-loud book, this is the book for you! Very hard to stop listening to it when you arrive at work and have to get out of the car. Also, although you want to get to the end of the book to see how Becky will get out of the messes she gets into, you are sad when you reach the end.
I have loved all of the Shopaholic books and Mini Shopaholic didn't disappoint me a bit, and as usual, Emily Gray did a superb reading of the book. I can't imagine Becky's voice any other way!
I love Becky but as always, there are times when I want to slap her to get her to wise-up, but that's just her lovable, frustrating self.
The only disappointment I had with this book, is that it seems to be the last in the series. I have written on Sophie's Facebook page about this, so I am hoping that she writes some more.
"Has shopaholic through it like rock!"
If you enjoyed the other shopaholic books, you'll love this. Becky is as always, both loveable and ridiculous.
Story tellers voice suits book type and the frivolous easy going pace of this piece of chick lit really lends itself to audio.
Don't expect literary genius & you'll enjoy.
I was disappointed by how much I disliked this book as I'd found two other books by the author, 'Can You Keep a Secret' and 'Twenties Girl' light-weight but entertaining. The Mini of the title refers to Becky's spoilt toddler daughter. But the real shopaholic is Becky who displaces some of her desires to spend money by buying her daughter everything she demands. Becky is a vacuous, self-centred woman who wastes money on a grand scale even when her husband's bank is in crisis. I carried on listening as I had nothing else to accompany me on a long walk but didn't finish the recording as it just seemed to be catalogue of folly and stupidity with little to redeem it. If it was meant to be a satire it didn't work for me.
This audiobook was badly edited and there are random sentences read by someone else!
Also, Sophie Kinsella, there are other words than incredulous.
"Exactly as you expect"
If you have read any of the shopaholic series you will know what to expect, this does not disappoint.
The cring worthy antics continue in this book as with all that have gone before. If you are looking for high brow reading this book is not for you, but if you want a book that is just fun to read/hear and will make you sigh and laugh then this is for you.
"Enjoyable and easy read or listen.."
Good fun, very easy listening and good company during a walk, a bath, or just generally. Would recommend to anyone.
From the moment this starts you begin to laugh and raise your eyebrows at the same time.
it makes me want to scream at the character with frustration because of her stupidity lol. but there is no way you would put this book down because it is simply great.
Sophie Kinsella is my fav author.
Previously I have read all the shopaholic books except this one so after the brilliant experience I had with my first ever audio book "Michael McIntyre Alive and Laughing" I downloaded this one. Having tried several times to listen to it I've given up - Emily Gray's voice does absolutely nothing for me, although she is probably only attempting to mimic the perceived voices in the book, to me she just sounds as though she is continually whining. I can't really comment on the book content as the reader has put me off getting past the third chapter!
"laugh a minute cheese"
I LOVE Sophie Kinsellas shopaholic series as I can identify with myself in so many ways hahaha
this was a little bit too much though and at first minnie comes across as a spoilt little brat, but I do warm to her as the book goes on and she ends up like any other 2-3 year old little girl with her Miu Miu handbag.
Lol moments and a general feel good story.
Perfect if you want light listening with nothing too heavy.
"Funny,witty a great read."
Becky is the ultimate consumer falling for any hype in the fashion world but changes her ways when a bank crashes and a party is being planned, can she throw the ultimate party for nothing?
