Publisher's summary

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Party Crasher and Love Your Life comes “frothy fun . . . Faster than a swiping Visa, more powerful than a two-for-one coupon, able to buy complete wardrobes in a single sprint through the mall—it’s Shopaholic!” (The Washington Post)

“Sophie Kinsella keeps her finger on the cultural pulse, while leaving me giddy with laughter.”—Jojo Moyes, author of The Giver of Stars and The Last Letter from Your Lover

Becky Brandon thinks that having a daughter is a dream come true: a shopping friend for life! But two-year-old Minnie has a quite different approach to shopping. The toddler creates havoc everywhere she goes, from Harrods to her own christening. On top of everything else, Becky and Luke are still living with her parents (the deal on house #4 has fallen through), when suddenly there’s a huge nationwide financial crisis.

With people having to cut back, Becky decides to throw a surprise party for Luke to cheer everyone up. But when costs start to spiral out of control, she must decide whether to accept help from an unexpected source—and therefore run the risk of hurting the person she loves. Will Becky be able to pull off the celebration of the year? Will she and Luke ever find a home of their own? Will Minnie ever learn to behave? And . . . most important . . . will Becky’s secret wishes ever come true?

Not the high point of the series...

I used to like the shopaholic series. Then I lost my job, and somehow listening to someone whine about not being able to buy the latest Gucci or Louis Vuitton just wasn't funny any more. The gags in this one are cringe-worthy and the narrator's voice high-pitched and annoying. The entire book is basically a repitition of all the books before--Becky does inappropriate things, embarrases herself in public, is greedy and materialistic and self-absorbed, yet always ends up getting what she wants. The worst book in the series, if you ask me.

An Utter Waste of Time! Grow up Becky!

I loved the first Shopaholic books, but wonder if this immature woman will ever grow up. The charm has worn off Becky for me. I cannot imagine what Luke sees in this compulsive shopper. Will Becky ever learn that happiness is not found in her next purchase?

She hasn't changed since the first book; merely grown more tedious and boring. She lies constantly and we are to to find this charming, and to sympathize with her "problems"? In the midst of a financial crisis, Becky's main concern is throwing an elaborate and over-the-top birthday party for Luke? Can you imagine the negative press he would receive for this?

Life is supposed to be about growing up and changing, yet Becky remains as childish as ever.

The ideal next book (and you know there will be one) should be about Luke realizing what a crazy person he is married to and filing for divorce. Becky, I am officially "divorcing" you. This is the last Shopaholic book for me.

Can't even finish

Does anyone really think + reason this way? Although I've enjoyed her previous books, I found this one unbearable + could not relate to becky at all.

More of the same, only less so

I've read and heard all the Shopaholic books, and I too am disappointed that Becky never learns from her mistakes or her past. I found this book to be more of a series of disjointed scenes rather than having an overarching story, and I just got tired of Becky's blindness to herself and her lies to her family and friends. I'm sorry to say that this series hasn't gotten better with age (the first two were my favorites), and it's getting harder to care about Becky anymore. :-(

Shallow, boring, bad

If I could rate this less than one star, I would. This book is so incredibly shallow. I have read the other Shopaholic books, and quite enjoyed them, even though Becky is such a shallow girl. She hasn't developed at all!! She has become a wife and a mother and she is still the silly, immature, shallow girl we met in the first book! She makes quite stupid decisions regarding her daughter and she spends a lot of time party-planning. I just couldn't finish this book! I hated it!

Can't stand the narrator!!!

I'm sorry to say that my review isn't complete. I only vote for the narrator who is absolutely wrong for this book. I can't stand her and so I can't go on listening to see if I like the book or not. I already don't like it. Money down the drain in my opinion this one. Can you please release a different version where my favorite Emily Gray is reading? Maybe in my head Emily Gray IS Rebecca and I can't get used to anybody else, I'm really sorry Ms. Landor.

Hard to get through...

I am usually a fan, so was sad when this book took a downward spiral into a whiny mess.
