Publisher's summary

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Ends With Us held listeners spellbound with her novel Hopeless, the story of what happened when a troubled girl named Sky encountered a long-lost childhood friend, Dean. Now, in Losing Hope, we finally learn the truth about Dean Holder.

Haunted by the little girl he couldn’t save from imminent danger, Holder’s life has been overshadowed by feelings of guilt and remorse. He has never stopped searching for her, believing that finding her would bring him the peace he needs to move on. However, Holder could not have anticipated that he would be faced with even greater pain the moment they reconnected.

In Losing Hope, Holder reveals the way in which the events of Sky’s youth affected him and his family, leading him to seek his own redemption in the act of saving her. But it is only in loving Sky that he can finally begin to heal himself.

Dean's side of the story

This book answered many unanswered questions from book 1. I loved this book and I'm sorry it ended!

Sweet series

I loved this as much as the first. It was so neat hearing the story again from the other perspective. You also learn new details and are given a totally different outlook from Holder’s POV. Loved it!

Just a repeat

It was just a repeat of the original story sort of dragged out if you read the first story and realized you didn’t need to listen to this one

Not the Right Voice for Holder

What made the experience of listening to Losing Hope the most enjoyable?

I loved Hopeless and was excited to listen to Holders POV, right off the bat I was disappointed... The narrator is good, but not the right voice for Holder at all... I am always disappointed when narrators are chosen and their voice doesn't match the character they are reading for...

How could the performance have been better?

A narrator that has a more sexy, masculine voice to match the personality given to Holder's character

A lot of repeat

There were a few revelations but a lot of repetition from the last book. (Which was Amazing)
I have enjoyed others books similar to this in the past with the same story from another point of view but this one was kind of disappointing.

Kirby Heyborne MAKES this book 5 stars!

I read the first novel, Hopeless, and thought OK. Good narration, good story-line. The only reason I bought the second book was b/c of Kirby Heyborne being the narrator. He absolutely made me LOVE both these books now. The author writing both novels from the point of view of the girl and the guy was genius. We the reader got to be inside both parties' heads and it was obviously different in each book, yet the storyline remained constant. If you every read Gone Girl, (which BTW Kirby also narrated), its on the same lines as that. The story was realistic but sad. Worth the credit to my ears....
