Publisher's summary

Across America a mysterious disease is turning ordinary people into raving, paranoid murderers who inflict brutal horrors on strangers, themselves, and even their own families. Working under the government’s shroud of secrecy, CIA operative Dew Phillips crisscrosses the country trying in vain to capture a live victim. With only decomposing corpses for clues, CDC epidemiologist Margaret Montoya races to analyze the science behind this deadly contagion. She discovers that these killers all have one thing in common–they’ve been contaminated by a bioengineered parasite, shaped by a complexity far beyond the limits of known science.

Meanwhile Perry Dawsey–a hulking former football star now resigned to life as a cubicle-bound desk jockey–awakens one morning to find several mysterious welts growing on his body. Soon Perry finds himself acting and thinking strangely, hearing voices . . . he is infected. The fate of the human race may well depend on the bloody war Perry must wage with his own body, because the parasites want something from him, something that goes beyond mere murder.

Critic reviews

"Part Stephen King, part Chuck Palahniuk, Infected blends science fiction and horror into a pulpy masterpiece of action, terror, and suspense. Three recommendations: don't read it at night, or just after you've eaten a full meal, or if you're weak of heart. You've been warned!"—James Rollins, New York Times bestselling author of The Judas Strain and Black Order

“Powerfully written . . . an unforgettable central character.” —Dallas Morning News

“Sigler is masterful at grabbing the reader by the throat and refusing to let go. Just when I thought I knew what abyss he was leading me across, he knocked the bridge out from under... I think I screamed the whole way down... Infected is a marvel of gonzo, in-your-face, up-to-the-minute terror.”—Lincoln Child, New York Times bestselling author of Deep Storm and Death Match

Expected Better

Not to bad with the story and all, but Scott needs to stick to writing and clear of being a narrator!

The narration was pretty bad & made the writing seem child like & even sounding choppy. It made it very very hard to keep listening to the whole book. Sure wish he was not the narrator of the book !!!

Can't take it anymore

Any additional comments?

I love the storyline and I really wish I could continue listening past chapter two, but the narration is just killing it for me. Please get a professional to narrate next time!!!!!!

Not very good

Story started out good. But went downhill. The alien twist was frustrating and the narration was not the best. I won't get the next one. Also found the authors description of some characters demeaning and cruel.

Very Awesome. As a dad: not for kids under 14.

I couldn't put it down.  Great story.  I had to keep listening...  it's gritty and as violent as any war movie.

Gory but great

I’m a nurse, so I wasn’t grossed out, but I sure cringed at the perceived pain of it all!

It is fun

If you aren't familiar with Sigler, his books are a collection of his free podcasts. Some of his audiobooks have professional narrators, but I like Sigler. He is fun to listen to and he knows how to interpret the material, because well, he wrote it.

In my opinion, Infected is my least favorite of the three-novel series, but it sets the scene as the infection grow from a single apartment, to the city, to the country. The last 3 hours of the third book is worth the buildup. I don't know how Sigler thinks of these things, but his stuff is always fun, grotesque, and exciting.
