This story is for everyone - but not everyone is for this story.
This is a dangerous tale of times past... a love story full of deep seduction. A story of terrible longing and bold sacrifice.
Then as now, evil begins its courtship cloaked in light. And the heart embraces what it should flee, forgetting it once had a truer lover.
With a kiss, evil will ravage body, soul, and mind. Yet there remains hope, because the heart knows no bounds. Love will prove greater than lust. Sacrifice will overcome seduction. And blood will flow. Because the battle for the heart is always violently opposed.
For those desperate to drink deep from this fountain of life, enter. But remember, not everyone is for this story.

I absolutely loved this! Dekker's descriptions are so vivid that I could picture the people and places. This story is a great allegory of God's love for us. The story is absorbing and suspenseful. I will listen to it again.
I have listened to several of Mr. Dekker's books and this one, while good, is definately not his best. It took over half the book to get to the best part of the story. Seems to be a prequil to the Red, White and Black Trilogy but I am only guessing on that. The best part of the book is the last two hours after all the character development is done. If you like Ted, you will like this book.
I love Ted Dekkers books but this one was very disappointing. I was fearful that this was a vampire book, because apparently that is what is "IN" now, but I thought it cannot be as it is from a Christian publisher and writter. However, that is exactly what it is.The first 80% of the book was filled with evil, blood lusting, sensuality and such before there was even a hint of redemption. As a Christian, I would like my fiction to be more redemptive. Don't bother with this book, wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Think on things that are pure, lovely, true, right, noble, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy. This book will lead you in the wrong direction. I'm sorry, but if the best you can do at naming your "demon in chief" is Dracula spelled backwards (Alucard) you should be ashamed of yourself. I have to believe that Dekker is better than this. All in all this was a vast waste of money and so much of a disappointment.
Desires of the Heart
I have to admit that for the first 1/2 I was thinking either my audio was titled incorrectly or something was really wrong with Ted. As I went on, I found the Ted I know and love. I do appreciate the story and will say I enjoyed it. Although it is not a favorite, I would still recommend it to anyone who likes vampire stories.
I am a glass artist and while I create, I listen to books. each creation has memory of one listened to. I love Jesus and my family.
Im not one who enjoys vampire stories or dark stories...but this has a love story that is griping...I enjoyed this book to the end. Love, of course, is the is the story line but with sacrifice, determination, passion and a unique way of explaining true love vs endulgences. Ted Dekker has an imagination that is limitless, and with this fiction tale it spins a story that has truth to it......its different but enjoyable.
I will re-listen to the same book. Narrators can make or break a book. I will follow the same characters writers and narrators.
I was just getting to know Decker's writing, and here he goes getting lazy and leaning soooo heavily on Dracula he should be ashamed. I would not have expected this from Ted Decker.
Yes...only because I already have.
Tomar, only because you asked. Thank goodness for Chris Andrews or I would have never finished listening.
If I could be sure who it was, Immanuel.
I love Dekker's Books of History Chronicles and was excited about this book but was disappointed.I think he tried too hard here and I found this read dark and strange. To each his own but no thanks.
