Would you try another book from Janet Evanovich and/or Debi Mazar?

Yes, from Janet Evanovich but not if Debi Mazar reads it!

Have someone other than Debi Mazar read it and record an unabridged version.

How could the performance have been better?

Have a skilled reader like the gal who read the first 4 novels, read it. She was fantastic!

If this was the first Janet Evanovich book I had listened to I would have never listened to another one. Debi Mazar is absolutely awful. Every character sounds the same and she sounds like she can't wait to be done with it too!

Narrator is awful.

I love these books but wish I would not have wasted a credit on this one - the narrator is awful. Very hard to listen to because of the narrator - it seems that she has never narrated a boom before, even pronouncing main character names differently than in the first 4 books.

Good book

If you like the first four books you’ll like this book too. My only complaint is they switched narrators. To me the narrator and the way the book is read is just as important as the words of the book. The entire feel of the book changed when they change narrators. I’m not saying that this narrator is a bad narrator, it’s just not the narrator that I have gotten used to from the first four books

Stephanie strikes again!

Good story but short. I love Stephanie and her adventures with the regulars... Grandma, Lula, Morelli and Ranger. Downside is the narrator! Reads in a monatone at varying speeds with no individual distinction of voices. As much as I love Stephanie, it was a struggle to get through the story. So glad it was a short one.

Poor substitute

Would you listen to High Five again? Why?

Not this version. Thought I was getting the unabridged by C.J. Critt who is wonderful. Debi Mazar reads like she is going to a race and no difference in character voices.

good story but the audiable readers voice is terrible she needs to slow down sometimes hard to follow

sorry....but

had a hard time with the reader. i feel bad because surely they could be a wonderful narrator....but the other one does it better for this series. Same voice for every character and very weird pacing.

Narrator is awful.

I’m really not sure why this is the only available version on Audible, but if you’re reading this, DO NOT BUY THIS VERSION. She reads so incredibly fast and gives ZERO personality to the characters. Her words run together and over each other, it’s hard to tell when she’s done with a sentence and starting another because she gives no change to her voice. I’m sure she’s a nice person, but she is an absolute dog shit narrator.

There is a free version by CJ Critt on YouTube. Much easier to listen to, no money spent and we get the Stephanie and Lula and beloved Grandma we started with!

New Reader is Horrible! Loved the first four books in this series.. but can’t stand this new reader so am returning the book.

First 4books in this series were really fun.. then in this book 5 (and 6) they switched the audiobook reader.. the new reader is tortuous to listen too. I am returning this book 5, will skip book 6, and restart the series since they got rid of the horrible reader of books 5 & 6, and pick up the series with the new audiobook reader of book 7 ..
