A loving mother and wife, Annie O'Neill was the heart of the small community of Kiss River. But her generous nature hid a darker side that remained secret for years after her tragic death.
When Lacey O'Neill finally learns the shattering truth about the mother she's spent a decade emulating, the foundation of her life begins to crumble. Then her close childhood friend dies, leaving her teenage daughter, Mackenzie, in Lacey's care, and Lacey unwillingly finds herself in the role of mother.
Uprooted by her mother's death, Mackenzie resents her new home of Kiss River. She wants nothing to do with the father who never knew she existed - and especially not her mother's oldest friend. But the person who could understand her best might be the one she resents most: Lacey.

"Complex, credible characterization. . . . Even readers who are not already fans will sympathize with the flawed but caring people [Chamberlain] compassionately evokes." (Publishers Weekly)
The narrator was Terrific! Tempo was right & I always knew who was speaking because she altered her voice for each character.
The story tied up all the loose ends from the other books.
Enjoyed it a lot.
Diane Chamberlain does it again. I loved hearing how the members of this family grew up & continued on through the stories. I love the twists & turns.
And to hear the same awesome narrator through series kept the stories flowing. Great job!!!
This being the last of this trilogy. I feel it was the best of the three. They were each excellent reads, but this one left me with a wonderful feeling of peace. I think the best part of this book was when Lacy meet with Zack. It was very powerful and totally unexpected. Loved these characters through out all 3 books. I would highly recommend all 3!
I've been an audible member for several years now. I've have listen to thousands of books. but it didn't take long for Diane Chamberlain to become one of my favorite authors.
After this series she is my number author!
I long forward to her next release.
All the books in this trilogy would be among my absolute favorites. I'm sure I will listen to all of them in a year or so and find things that I didn't hear the first time around.
The complicated relationships between the main characters.
Haven't listened to her before but she did a great job and I didn't have to try to figure out who was talking - she did each character differently and perfectly.
What the Heck Just Happened?????
I really liked this trilogy and will probably end up listening to many other books by Diane Chamberlain.
I feel like now that I have finished the series, I'm leaving behind people I came to know and like in a place I've always loved -- The Outer Banks.
I am so excited to read other Diane Chamberlain books and can recommend this listen to anyone who loves to learn about how people react to different situations and trials in their life but who ultimately celebrate family in all its forms.
I will miss Arielle Delisle's voice and will look for her narrations again on a book I'm excited to listen to.
A great story with plenty of surprises. Beautifully written and narrated. A perfect ending to the trilogy. Thank you, Diane and Arielle.
