Excellent story and great narration!
Very enjoyable story with decent twists and suspense right from the beginning. The narrator does a fantastic job portraying the characters and bringing them to life. This is a book I'll listen to again.

A great ghost story
I too bought the book because of the King name and was not disappointed. This is a real old fashioned ghost story that is hard to find today. Most authors, including, Mr. King, try to find novel plots never used before, but it's nice to read a good old scary tale.

Well-written, great characters, great performance
... it's just the story that leaves a little more to ask for.
It starts off really great. So great that I lauded this book in a review about another book that felt trite and boring, (all these one-a-dozen suspense novels), however, then, I had only read the first two chapters.
A Heart-Shaped Box is definitely different! Which is refreshing. However, the great start flats out a little into cheaper suspense-tricks based on the main characters constantly fighting for their lives, instead of developing characters and the story.
Short, clear, concise writing. Sufficiently well-developed and intriguing characters, great performance. It's definitely worth a listen.

Heart Stopping
Really, really great story. It is definately one I can see being made into a movie. Joe is so vivid in his descriptions that I could see it in my head (which during the really unnerving parts almost made me turn it off!) Great supernatural thriller that had moments of humor, sadness and terror. You wont be disappointed. Another home run for Joe Hill!
