Publisher's summary

The world will end on Saturday. Next Saturday. Just before dinner, according to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, the world's only completely accurate book of prophecies, written in 1655. The armies of Good and Evil are amassing and everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except that a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture. And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist. Put New York Times best-selling authors Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett together...and all Hell breaks loose.

Critic reviews

"Pratchett (of Discworld fame) and Gaiman (of Sandman fame) may seem an unlikely combination, but the topic (Armageddon) of this fast-paced novel is old hat to both. Pratchett's wackiness collaborates with Gaiman's morbid humor; the result is a humanist delight to be savored and reread again and again." (Amazon.com review)

watch the show

A good story, but a rare incidence where watching the show is actually better than the book.

Fun book about the end of the world.

Want to laugh about the end of the world? Gaiman and Pratchett have a way with words and descriptions that allow you to truly see what you are listening to. And Jarvis does a great job narrating. Amazing book and so fun to listen too!

Excellent, Hilarious

Really, deeply funny. You could put on and listen with a friend, as if you were watching TV. Listening to it alone, you'll have moments of wishing someone was there to share the joke with, it's just that good.

Genius

The book itself is amazing. Martin Jarvis is a wonderful narrator. I actually looked up other books he's done after this, because I so very much enjoyed him. I've seen the series and enjoyed the adaptation. Rare for most books, but I've found it to be bearable and even well-done with Gaiman's work. One thing I really enjoyed, though, doesn't seem to be mentioned in other reviews. I'm a huge fan of David Tennant. I read the book, then listened to the audiobook, then decided I needed to make time to watch the series when it came out. Throughout Martin's narration, I couldn't help hearing Crowley as played by Tennant. He sounds exactly like him. Mind, I listened before the series was in production. I had no idea he was actually chosen to play him until afterward. It was beyond thrilling.

Delightfully whimsy

Thoroughly entertaining thorough most chapters. had me grinning from ear to ear and guffawing at some points. Reminds me a lot of Hitchhikers Guide. The ending feels just a little bit rushed and plot takes a little stumble, but that's only a small part of what was overall a great and fun read.

LovelyTragedy

This was a great listen. I really enjoyed listening . Crowley is such a devilish character that is still relatable.

Interesting Listening

I chose this book because I wanted to get familiar with it before the Amazon series. It was a pretty good listen, and I will be interested to see how it translates to TV. I finished this in just a couple of days

Complete insanity, and I loved it!

I loved this book. It was very confusing at times, and very hard to follow, but it was good enough that I will listen to again.
Best book line ever: "How many nipples have ya got laddie". I loved Shadwell. I loved all the characters. What a trip!
It was not quite as good as American Gods, but close.
