Introducing Gideon Crew: trickster, prodigy, master thief....

At 12, Gideon Crew witnessed his father, a world-class mathematician, accused of treason and gunned down.

At 24, summoned to his dying mother's bedside, Gideon learned the truth: His father was framed and deliberately slaughtered. With her last breath, she begged her son to avenge him.

Now, with a new purpose in his life, Gideon crafts a one-time mission of vengeance, aimed at the perpetrator of his father's destruction. His plan is meticulous, spectacular, and successful.

But from the shadows, someone is watching. A very powerful someone, who is impressed by Gideon's special skills. Someone who has need of just such a renegade.

For Gideon, this operation may be only the beginning....

Gideon is a whole new thought process

Gideon is tricky, aggravating, smart and really good. I love the Pendergast series, so I was hesitant to start the Gideon series. The main reason... I didn't want a copycat of Pendergast. Believe me, Gideon is in no way a copycat of Pendergast. Gideon is a completely different thought process, a great new idea. I found myself agreeing to and arguing with Gideon's ideas and plans. I usually don't argue out loud with a book or character in a book but Gideon is so male, that you can't help but argue with him. And by male, I don't mean anything bad but dang it, he can be downright aggravating. I couldn't decide if he was just really lucky or really smart. Since he aggravated me, I'm sticking with lucky... But it's not luck, it's just an out of the box thinking that will test your nerves at times. If a book can get that much aggravation out of me, it's a dang good book, because a lot of books are entertaining and interesting, but few are that exciting and aggravating that you get drawn in so well that you actually argue with the characters. Gideon is that good. If you like Pendergast and are looking for something along the same lines, do not look here. I can see now, why a lot of Pendergast fans would not find Gideon as good, because Gideon may be written by the same guys, but the authors went into a completely different thought process for Gideon, which is fantastic!

Very fast read

I always know I will get a great story when Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child are the writers. I was on a long drive to Santa Fe, NM with my husband. and when we arrived, we wanted to stay in the car and listen to the end of the book. It was a great read!!!

Perfectly Ordinary

I knew I wasn't about to read a Pendergast novel, but this from Preston & Child?!?? Me thinks P&C are embarking on the same ship Koontz has been sailing: The HMS Unremarkable.
The characters, the story and the protagonist: perfectly ordinary…certainly NOT Preston & Child material. Don't waste the credits. If you must read it, wait until you see it in one of Audible's $4.95 sales.

THE JOB OF REVENGE

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Not really. It had all the action of a made for TV movie, but something was missing - probably a purpose.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

No. It was actually predictable.

Which character – as performed by John Glover – was your favorite?

Gideon. He was certainly confused for a man who was supposed to be so intelligent.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

THE LEGS - WHO HAS THE LEGS?

Pam Zimmerman Review

I was very disappointed with the narrator's voice and cadence. The story line was ok, but the voice was distracting and annoying.

A Great Book

This is a great book. The writers keep your interest. Never a dull moment throughout the book. I might just have to listen again. What's the next book in the series?

The four star

The story and narrator were amazing and the story was a great one. However, I have given a four star in performance because I didn’t like the spontaneous music at the end of some of the chapters.
I can totally understand the music being at the beginning of the book and end of book but not at random parts of the story.
This is my opinion and I wouldn’t let this hinder you if you are trying to decide if you want to buy and listen to this book.
