Publisher's summary

In Frankenstein: Lost Souls, Dean Koontz puts a singular twist on this classic tale of ambition and science gone wrong, to forge a new legend uniquely suited to our times. It is a story of revenge, redemption, and the thin line that separates human from inhuman.

The work of creation has begun again. Victor Leben, once Frankenstein, has seen the future — and he’s ready to populate it. Using stem cells, “organic” silicon circuitry, and nanotechnology, he will engender a race of superhumans — the perfect melding of flesh and machine. With a powerful, enigmatic backer and a secret location where the enemies of progress can’t find him, Victor is certain that this time nothing can stop him.

It is up to five people to prove him wrong. In their hands rests nothing less than the survival of humanity itself. They are drawn together in different ways, by omens sinister and wondrous, to the same shattering conclusion: Two years after they saw him die, the man they knew as Victor Helios lives on. As they gather at a small Montana town, old alliances will be renewed and tested, from within and without, for the dangers they face will eclipse any they have yet encountered. Yet in the midst of their peril, love will blossom, and joy, and they will discover sources of strength and perseverance they have not imagined.

They will need them, for a monumental battle is about to commence that will require all their ingenuity and courage, as it defines what we are to be...and if we are to be at all.

Excellent

Story and performance was done effortlessly. The additional characters added more spice to the book

Can’t be the same narrator as book 3.

I loved the story and especially the narration in book three. It says that this is the same narrator but he sounds totally different and not nearly as funny as the last book. Story is still great- I was just expecting more from the narrator considering the previous book.

Disappointed

Not a lot of content for a full book. There were a couple action parts, the “bar fight” was humorous in that it was a “many good guys with a gun” at a church doing. Pretty much just setting up for the next. Of course there was the “delightful, charming” Jocko antics. But over all disappointed. Even tho, I’ll continue on because I love the characters and gotta see where it all ends. Prob predictable but that’s the dif between creative writing, full characters, and great narration, idc because the ride will be fun!

Good but narration a little whiney

Overall pretty good. As all of these books are episodic this one is a nice segway into the new version of Victor Frankenstein. The one thing I didn't like was the narration of the two main characters: Michael and Carson. They just seemed really whiney to me and they were so bad ass before that it seems out of character. It's not the end of the world and you kind of get used to it but if that's going to bug you maybe you're better off reading it.

grrrr cliff hanger

If you want a book with an ending, this is not that book. If you are a fan of the series, the next book is the last, boo hoo.

Koontz is amazing

I have been reading Dean Koontz since the 1980’s and I’m surprised that after all this time, he could possibly surprise me but he did. This Frankenstein series is pure fun. The characters are unique and unexpected. The writing is great, no surprises there. That he could be writing all these years and have it still be this fun and this fresh without ever being formulaic or familiar is a testament to how good this guy is. I absolutely love this series! Reading this series is like an emotional roller coaster. The feeling of dread is palpable as you hope against hope that Travis’ mother is still alive and then a minute later you’re laughing out loud at Jocko’s craziness or the unexpected scene of a group of church ladies who draw down on the bad guys. It’s a pistol pulling, pearl clutching good time! I highly recommend this series!!

AWESOME!!

I hate that the book ended when it did. No spoilers from me. But you have to get the next book for the end of this tale.
