Publisher's summary

It’s the near future, and thanks to a perfect storm of reckless banking practices, hyperinflation, a stock market gone mad, and the negligence of our elected officials, the entire social, political, and economic infrastructure of America has collapsed. Chaos reigns in the streets, medical treatment is no longer available, and a silent coup has placed a dangerous group of men at the helm of a false government.

America’s fate is in the hands of those few individuals who have the survival skills, the faith, and the forethought to return this country to the state its founding fathers intended.

A good sequel to a sequel

This book does not have as many original elements as the previous two installments of the series, but it wraps up storylines from both first books nicely. All in all, it is a pretty good book.

A good book about surviving the coming collapse

A bit preachy on the religion the other bits are excellent and the mindset is worthwhile reading

No real opinion.

Would you consider the audio edition of Founders to be better than the print version?

Probably

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would have focused on different characters although the ellaboration of focusing on a core group of individuals, and actually making them the highlight of the story was rather enjoyable. I personally found it rather interesting this book was never meant to be a work of fiction, but rather a hypothetical simulation on real life occurences that may take place in 10 years based on the Author's opinion.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

I liked the old Narrator for the last 3 of his books. However it was a nice change of pace to have someone new contribute to the story.

If you could rename Founders, what would you call it?

I think Founders is aptly named. These were the men, and woman who helped institute the rebuilding of the US into a new republic in the story.

Any additional comments?

I didn't mind the religious undertones because unlike many of you these things are important to the characters, and if you don't like the book don't read it. Personally it doesnt bother me, and those love stories are important. Their battle for freedom is closely held with those they love its all tied together. It is what fundamentally drives these people to fight, and die.

Enjoyable but be sure to listen to Patriots first.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Not a bad story, it kept my interest. There were a few parts I felt as though dragged on.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would not not have gone into some of the great detail of the characters faith. It seemed off topic after a while. I worried that rest of the story would go off topic as the first few chapters did, but luckily this wasn't the case.

Which scene was your favorite?

Don't want to spoil it. I enjoyed the journey of the 2 main charters.

Was Founders worth the listening time?

Yes.

Any additional comments?

The deep background into the faith of the characters will detract from the story for many listeners in the early chapters. It really was a little too much detail, for instance, to know that a Catholic couple doesn't have children because they practice the rhythm method of birth control. It seemed to be an unnecessary justification. I would recommend Patriots over this first. Infact I think I'm going to re-listen to Patriots. But if you are like me and can't get enough of this story, you will be entertained by Founders.

Great book --- horrible reader

Great book --- horrible reader. After years of audio listening, I never heard some impersonate a male or female voice so horribly.
