Review of Extraction

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it is very imaginative and definitely in keeping with the rest of the books.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Not as much as the new 12th book but it was very entertaining.

What about Rene Auberjonois’s performance did you like?

He is very good and consistent with the characters

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I don't know...

Great creepy short story.

As with the others in this series a loved the story. Creepy and I will definitely cringe at mention of the tooth fairy. And it makes old new Orleans even more interesting. It is a short story roughly 50 minutes with an intro to another story at the end. that one sounds promising as well. the only negative I have of it the narrator. He's not bad, but he's not what I am use to for Pendergast, and I don't like his southern accent. Its not genteel enough for what I am use too as Pendergast.

Best to pay the toll!

Alright, we all are aware what this little appetizer is leading to...right to the grave, Two Graves that is. But hey, it's still Pendergast, along with pops, uncle and little brother to boot. The story is in my opinion a pretty blah Halloween piece amped up for those of us that have had some issues with dentists and/or sociopathic tooth obsessed neighbors. O.K. Mr. Preston and Mr.Child I think it's safe to say, it's main event time, "let's get ready to rum..."

How do thay keep coming up with these story lines?

Would you listen to Extraction again? Why?

Yes it has that eerir gothic feel that sends a shiver down your spine

What other book might you compare Extraction to and why?

A bit hard to say as it is more of a story, rather than a book. I suppose I could compare with other horror story writers.

Have you listened to any of Rene Auberjonois’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes I have and can honestly say he has one of the best story telling voices I have ever heard.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

brothers are always unkind to each other but this went a little too far

Any additional comments?

Good story

Good story, very short for a pendergast. Length is the only drawback for the list price. Only 1 hour 7 minutes long.

A disappointing effort

As I have said in other reviews, I am usually a huge fan of Preston & Child, especially of their Agent Pendergast. This tale, however, was a true disappointment. If it weren't for the narration by Rene Auberjonois, it would have been a real train wreck. I thought it was beneath the skill and expectation of a work by Preston & Child. I would not recommend it, but if you are like me, you'll want to evaluate every Preston & Child work for yourself. Even the best authors and author teams have a weak performance now and then.

A great short with favorite characters

What made the experience of listening to Extraction the most enjoyable?

It's the perfect length for a quick Pendergast fix.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Pendergast is the star of the series, and of this short story. Too bad Vinny wasn't it as well.

Which character – as performed by Rene Auberjonois – was your favorite?

He does Pendergast perfectly- and I can't imagine anyone else being able to pull that off.

If you could take any character from Extraction out to dinner, who would it be and why?

No one- they're all nuts!

Any additional comments?

I hope they do more of this type- the longer adventures are great- but this is a nice break in between.

too short

This was a set of 2 very short stories. The first better than the last. The only problem I have is that they were too short and I really didn't feel like I got my money's worth. Also I felt both stories left the reader hanging but perhaps that was the intention. I love the characters and this series.
