Publisher's summary

Enemies Foreign And Domestic is a domestic terrorism thriller set "in the near future." The story begins on opening day of the NFL season, when bullets begin to rain down upon the upper deck of a packed football stadium. A panic stampede ensues, leading to mass casualties. The alleged sniper is found holding a smoking assault rifle, and is killed by a police marksman.

One week later, Congress bans the private possession of all semi-automatic assault rifles. Gun owners are given one week to turn in their semi-automatic rifles, or face a five year mandatory sentence.

The plot revolves around the true identity of the actual sniper. The alleged sniper killed at the scene may be a patsy, and many Americans refuse to turn in their banned weapons, leading to a civil crisis in the nation between supporters of the 2nd Amendment and a federal government trending toward tyranny.

The story was strong enough to allow me to Finnish the book despite the narration.

Strong characters. Plausible scenarios. Technically accurate.
With a better narration I would go five stars.

A horrifying plausible future

I was shocked just how plausible the entire situation within this excellent book is. The author does an superb job detailing the usual government overreaction to tragedy that often results in greater loss of life in the long run and horrifying abuses by government, all in the name of “safety”. Knowing the bloody and murderous past of the Bureau of alcohol tobacco and firearms, and the attitude of its employees stemming from its original purpose to curtail the second amendment. Nothing about this novel or the ATFs plan is far-fetched.

This novel embodies the quote “The price of freedom is eternal vigilance”

Great Story poor audio quality

The story is interesting and captivating. The audio performance was poor with broken audio and noticeably different audio clips inserted sounding as if they were recorded on a cell phone while on a noisy train. Aside from the audio, the book is very good.

Chapter 12 Audio

The story is good. The reader has a pleasant voice but his tone is incredibly flat. When chapter 12 started is sounded like the reader was being recorded over the telephone. All in all this is a good story that needs more production value.

Terrible narration!

Overall I thought the story was good.
Sometimes it was a bit over done with details, but maybe for some those details paint a better mental picture.
The writer painted some very real considerations when it comes to how modwrn day convwniences can be used to track a person's movements, associations, and other info that we may have assumed was generally private or would not be used against us by our own government. It's possible; which therefore lays the framework for a good story. How deeply a reader wants to go down that rabbit hole is
entirely up to the reader.
The narrator was terrible. I almost chose to cut my loses and not finish listening to this book. The man speaks slow, deep and with a southern drawl, not horrible speaking traits, but for narrating this kind of book, it sucked. I had to listen to it at 1.5 speed just for it to be tolerable!
Also, the quality of his recording was inconsistent and sounded very amature. Rent a sound studio next time, would be my recommendation.
For me to rate this audio book overall better the author would have to re-record it with another narrator in a professional recording setting.
I would not recommend this audio book solely due to the sub-par narration.

Scary because it's too realistic

Excellent almost real-life thriller. I would give this 5 stars if the narrator didn't sound like he had a mouthful of marbles.
The narrator's voice detracted from the enjoyment of this read. I hope the author will get another narrator for this, as I think it's an important book to listen to. I probably will read the sequel on kindle, even though I prefer audio reading.
