Publisher's summary

That’s the flummoxed state of Edward Stanton, a 42-year-old with Asperger’s syndrome. His job, his therapist, and his best friends are all gone. Even his nightly ritual of watching Dragnet reruns has short-circuited.

But a call from his friend Donna in Idaho, telling him that her son Kyle is in trouble, launches Edward from his rigidly scheduled existence in Billings, Montana, to the open road. He and Kyle, a sweet little boy turned sullen adolescent, debate football, music, and bodily functions (“Why do you pee so much?” Kyle asks). All the while, inspired by dreams of the past, Edward tries to make peace with his life - and when he meets an eccentric motel owner, perhaps open it to love.

I hate that it ended.

I really enjoyed the book you can't help but cheer for Edward. He gives you hope that with the right attitude and support we can achieve anything. Even if it's something as simple as being normal (socially).

Both Books Are Amazing

This is the follow-up to 600 Hours of Edward. I would recommend reading that one first. It is not strictly necessary for your enjoyment of Edward Adrift, but it will make it much better. Both books are amazing, as my title says. Heartfelt and funny. You will fall in love with all the characters. Very "feel-good hardship".

The narrator is also amazing. I would recommend reading anything Luke Daniel narrates. He has not disappointed me yet and I have listened to several books he's narrated. In fact, I have specifically chosen books to listen to because he narrated them.

If you liked these books, you may like the Rosie Project.

A great sequel to 600 Hours of Edward

A wonderful sequel to 600 Hours of Edward.

We meet Edward several years after the end of the first story. It is not a good year for Edward. He has been laid off from his job. His therapist has retired and his friends cross the street have moved away. For a man who needs structure, his base is crumbling.

After hearing that a friend is in trouble Edward decides to help and embarks on a journey outside his familiar comfort zone. Way outside!! He begins a journey out of Billings, out of Montana and way out of his self imposed boundaries.

It was heartwarming to see stretch his boundaries and learn how to live!

Great narration to a different writing style

The format of this sequel continues to be in a daily journal style with Edwards' experiences mainly shared in a review of daily activity. Which sometimes had me wondering why I enjoyed this so much. It would seem like it would be boring . . . but it definitely isn't and had me laughing out loud at times.

Edward's evolution is much more pronounced in this book and his own behavior and understanding of other peoples' behavior show that he is perhaps more evolved than "normal" people who aren't going through life with a developmental disability.

The narrator is truly awesome. To go from voicing Edward's reasonable and mature voice to the petulant, sullen voice of teenager Kyle was interesting to hear.

Well, another road trip story, but it fit with the character's growth. The end wrapped up kind of quickly, but overall the book was a pleasant listen that made a person think about behavior and how people treat each other. And, it was a humorous look at ourselves.

Warning: more cussing than necessary

Call me prude but why why why must there be such foul language.? Edward is an endearing character. I have a hard time recommending this book because of the language. Just saying, I’m with Sheila (you will know who this is if you listen to the book) “please don’t cuss around me! “

Couldn’t but the sequel down.

We read this book after 600hrs with Edward. My husband and I read this one at home sitting on the couch or in bed at night. It to was an awesome book read together. We loved both of them,

Glad to get the completion of Edward's story

Ah..Edward. I was so glad to revisit Edward to see how much he had grown and changed (and not!) and how he was able to cope with his "shitburger" of a year!

If you like 600 Hours of Edward, you will love getting back into Edward's head again.

I absolutely LOVE Edward

I think this is the best book I've read on Audible. I laughed, I cried and was mad at times for Edward. There were so many wonderful life lessons. Couldn't stop reading. I'm sure I will read again.

Very entertaining

I was not sure I would like the story when the prologue reported it was not the first story about Edward. I thought I mY be lost but the story is very independent of any other story and I really enjoyed it.
