Publisher's summary

A former war hero designs a weapon the whole world is trying to get their hands on. As world events show signs of the apocalypse, what price will he pay to save his country? From the co-author of the renowned Left Behind series, this epic story chronicles the unfolding end of the world.

Joshua Jordan, former US spy-plane hero now turned weapons designer, has come up with a devastatingly effective new missile defense system—the Return to Sender laser weapon. But global forces are mounting against America, and corrupt White House and Capitol Hill leaders are willing to do anything to stop the nation’s impending economic catastrophe—including selling out Joshua and his weapon.

With help from a group of powerfully connected Christian leaders known as the Patriots, Jordan works to save the nation from economic moral collapse—and to clear his name. As the world events begin setting the stage for the “end of days,” Jordan must consider the personal price to pay if he is to save the nation he loves.

From New York Times best-selling author Tim LaHaye, creator and co-author of the world-renowned Left Behind books, and Craig Parshall, this epic story chronicles the earth-shattering events leading up to the Apocalypse foretold in Revelation.

Very Well Written and Applicable

The plot of this book is very in depth and it certainly applies today. The book was written 5 years ago, and it has certainly been prophetic with regards to the media today. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters the plot and clear and dramatic narration. I'm all in for the next three books in the series.

Exciting, riveted, and well done!

The LaHaye and Parshall collaboration is incredible! I can clearly see the contribution of each writer. I am a huge fan of Craig Parshall and Tim LaHaye. The story is exciting and jaw dropping. I found myself speaking to the audible book! I also enjoyed the narrator. 👍🏽 I can’t wait to get to the next book.

The books I have listened to from Tim Lahaye has been so close to the actions of today news and I like the books. I learn from them and enjoy the fiction story!

Didn't Grab Me

I read some of the other reviews and I have to say that I have no problem with the "religious" side of the book because I know the authors are both evangelical Christians with a pretrib worldview.

With that said, I was disappointed about the quality of this book. I have been a fan of Craig Parshall's novels since his first book The Resurrection File, which I still think, is by far, one of his best books. I have never been a fan of Tim LaHaye and haven't read one single book of his in the Left Behind series. The reason is I figure if everyone thinks they are so great, most likely I won't like it, and generally I'm right.

Out of the 109 books I have here in my Audible acct I don't think I have ten that are fiction, so to actually purchase a novel is something I don't do often, and in this case, i bought this because of Craig Parshall, not La Haye.

I do like the style of writing and I think the story was good, but it was just missing something. I wasn't crazy about the narrators voice, that could be part of it, but I've heard Craig do other chapters of narration before on his books, and he would be an awful narrator if he had to read the book.

With that said, I will buy the next book they put out, which is due out in June 11 (I believe) and it's called Thunder of Heaven. Maybe it will be better... I hope. I have all of Parshall's books and believe that sometimes quality begins to lack especially after an author has been in the limelight awhile and is known.

And since this book was not remotely close to a run away best seller, we'll see what happens with the next book. I pray it's better.

Excellent book!

Unpredictable plot and excellent character development, especially with the villain. Narration was also very good. What a voice!

An interesting read

Wasn’t sure if I would enjoy it, but by the end of the first chapter, I was catching my breath. Hated to stop listening, and there are parallels to today. Can’t wait to jump into the second one
