Publisher's summary

From Outback Australia to London and Greece comes a captivating story of passion, greed, secrets and lies.

A story of passion, greed, secrets and lies.

Present day: A reclusive woman living in outback Australia receives a letter acknowledging a terrible secret from her past.

Thirty years before, she stole another woman's life. From the moment the letter is opened two women are on a collision course with destiny.

From the London pop scene, to the opera stages of Europe; from a tiny Greek island, to a stifling manor house full of secrets and deceptions; from the sun-drenched Queensland coast, to the silent outback; Angela and Ellie are two women both looking for something. One in search of her identity and her memory; the other in search of the love that she had and lost; theirs is a duet whose last note will not be sung until the heart-stopping climax, when a shadow from the past returns to claim them both.

I will listen to more from Kimberley Freeman

Would you try another book from Kimberley Freeman and/or Caroline Lee?

I have listen to Caroline Lee before, and I think she is awesome. As for Kimberley Freeman, she had me looking for other novels before I finished this one.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I want to be a spoiler, so I will say I liked how it all played out. I don’t think it was as predictable, and I liked getting to know each character. I will say it was slow at times, and there was a little something missing. Nevertheless, I liked it and I will find more from this author.

What three words best describe Caroline Lee’s voice?

Entrancing, Delightful, and Captivating. She really is one of my favorites.

Could you see Duet being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I could see this becoming a movie, or at least a lifetime movie. I’m not sure on the cast, but as long as they were convincing, it would be worth watching.

Depressing

Her books start so depressing I can’t get past a half hour. Alcoholics, bankruptcy, depression, etc

Great story, irritating narration

The narrator was distracting, as she squawked at the end of some sentences. I love the author.

A Mystery with unforeseen twists

Loved the plot, especially as it moved deep into the story. The skill used to produce the many dialects by the narrator was amazing. The story held my interest ...though in the beginning, was not sure how all the different plot lines were going to tied together.... but the ending definitely answered my questions in a very dramatic fashion.

Enjoyable many layered

I was glad to choose this book I found writing down character names early on helped me personally to keep them straight . Chapters went back and forth between characters.

Great Book & Great Narrator!

This is a great story with twists and turns. The narration by Caroline Lee is superb! If you like this book, you will also like Forgotten Garden and Shifting Fog by Kate Morton.

great story

Actual story was great. However, narrator was good too but multiple character accents were overlapping at times. I bought this audiobook because I read from the other reviews that it was like Forgotten Garden (which I loved). I was not disappointed.

Predictable, too conveniently tied up.

Any additional comments?

Not a bad book but not a great one either. There were parts of the story that were really good, where you couldn't see where it was going, but then the author just tied everything up a bit too neatly for my taste. Not as good as other authors of a similar genre like Kate Morton. Recommended as an easy listen. I liked the narrator.

A great listen!

The story of Ellie & Angie came from such different angles that it was difficult to predict where it was going or where it would end (great if you hate predictable storytelling) I thoroughly enjoyed the book- it stayed interesting & I loved the ending!
